I just recieved the good old secured card with 300 limit. Should I send a letter right away to ask for increase and such (Mr Miller)?? I also applied for their "gold" card ( I got a pre-approval in the mail) and am awaiting their approval (funny I thought I was pre-approved?.....). So should I wait until then and try to combine, try now for increase, any suggestions???? Anyone have any experiance in this area??
1. THERE ARE NO PREAPPROVALS ANYMORE. A long time ago there were true preapprovals. Now they can change their mind and often do depending on your credit. The fine print is "if you meet their credit requirements". I have been denied on several "preapprovals". 2. Call CapOne on Monday and ask specifically for Retention. If you get an idiot CSR that says "I can help with that", say no thanks. Tell retention that you are thinking of closing the account because of the low limit. Ask them if there is anything they can do. I have done this on a few cards, and it has worked in each case. I would expect CapOne to raise your limit to $500.00. Don't expect much from CapOne. You may get an increase every 6 months. Hope this helps.....Good Luck
MikeB is right, they will probably raise it to 500. I wish that I would have had the 50/month limit increase. I got 100 after 6 months (gold card...right). It took Mr. Miller to give me a 700 increase, so yes, you should go the PF route.
I would go straight the Mr. Miller and Planetfeedback. You could wait and see the results of your latest application and combine the cards to get a higher limit. Mike G.
