Some of us got the "guaranteed" approval offer from Cap 1 a week or two ago. I went ahead and applied through their online site with the approval code, and was told I was approved. Today I get the approval letter, 2K limit. Not great, but considering the first Cap 1 card I applied for 16 months ago was the classic came with a 500 limit (Planet Feedbacked them up to 1600 limit), I'm satisfied. Now I get to balance transfer my Providian balance of 800 dollars, and toss that sucker in a drawer. I've got the Citi Plat 11.5K limit, but they didn't offer me a balance transfer. I now have: Providian Gold 18 mo/1850 limit/800 bal/ 23.9% Citi Plat Select 4 mo/11.5K/1500/14.9% Cap 1 Classic 16 mo/1600/850/19.9% Cap 1 Patinum 0 mo/2K/0/14.9% Best Buy 8 mo 1200/1K high/0 bal Toyota Financial new auto loan, 23K/23K 1 mo old Does Cap 1 combine cards? I'd love to roll my classic balance and limit onto the Platinum. Anyone done this? And should I axe Providian or keep it active in a drawer with no balance? My oldest card, but only by 2 mo. I don't need all these cards, and would love to give Providian the heave ho! Actually, if I could wind up with just the Citi Plat and Cap 1 Plat, I'd be happy, and would put off any more apps for about 6 months or so before I possibly try for lower interest offers. Not Prime Yet, but certainly getting there! Feels great after 6 years of not being able to finance a candy bar! Anyway, wanted to let everyone know, there were some wondering if they should take the "guarantee" last week. danrs BTW, they pulled Experian, 684 score.
I recommend trying to get another credit increase through customer service on your cap one classic. And doing a PF letter to combine the two. Be sure they reflect the OLDEST account in the opening date. I would KILL Providian. They suck and you obviously have better fish to fry now. I would also advise applying for Citi AA silver. If approved, immediately apply for the Citi AA gold. Then convert those cards to plat select, get all three combined into 1 Plat select (make sure oldest date is reflected) for a real nice limit. Then I would say you've really got some handsome deals
What type of Cap 1 Plat did you get? No Hassles, Miles One, or some other? I think I feel an e-mail to Mr. Cooke coming on.....
I guess it's the "No Hassles" deal. All the app said was Cap 1 visa Platinum. Author 22, You said "I would also advise applying for Citi AA silver. If approved, immediately apply for the Citi AA gold. Then convert those cards to plat select, get all three combined into 1 Plat select (make sure oldest date is reflected) for a real nice limit." That's how I got the Citi Plat Select I have. Isn't this board great? Been there done that! Wouldn't make a credit move without checking with the board first, LOL! Later, danrs
Try bank of amercia go online they give good limit. When I lived in a house of 150,000 they gave me 17,000. Do it online and in few days you know if you got the card,it comes in a week.
I wrote that a friend of mine also applied for a Plat. Cap. 1 card last week. He too received the welcome letter- 5k cl, 14.9 APR (Fixed), Grace. Background- His credit is considered sub-prime as he has a quite a few of late pays. No charge-offs or BK. I don't know his FICO but I am assuming it's lower than mine. Best regards, Mirage
Congrats on the card, danrs. I don't blame you if you want to get rid of your Providian card. However, you may want to wait until at least your 25th month to close so you can get a higher score for the account in relation to FICO. You already have 18 months, try to wait another 7 to close. Throw it in the sock drawer if you don't want to use it. Just a suggestion. Again, congrats!!
I got the same offer. I applied online and was told that I would get a response in the mail. Well I got a letter about the terms on the card also saying more information is shortly on the way. Lets see what I get.. as you know Jake has a 5 soon to be six year old CH7. My other Cap1 is at $1600.
I got 3 of those offers a week or 2 ago, but all this chatter online made me take a look at it and apply. I got instant approval last night, but credit limit to be determined later. (The fine print says it has to be at least $500, but frankly I won't be impressed with that piddly amount). 14.9% rate. $39 annual fee. Anyone know a number to call Cap1 to find out my limit? P.S. They pulled Experian, score 622.
