It seems that Cap 1 has this new "Non-Prime," "Non-Subprime" Plat card they keep offering everyone. $39 yearly fee, min $500 limit up to $7500 and 14.9 APR.

This is not their old "Gold" card with minimum $200 CL and $6/month fee and 19.x apr. Hehe.

I have a family member who accepted this offer and got $3k CL. Funny thing, seems this new card does actually give some people higher limits than the old "Gold" cards that were almost all $200/$300/$400/$500 Credit Limits.

Anyone wonder what Cap 1 is doing here? New idea to get the "mid-range" people? Pre-Prime? :)

    Comments?

Seems like Cap 1 has a "Monster" of a marketing department. I once read that they have 100's (if not more) of "custom" offers for all people based on some internal FICO/Magic/Tea Leaves. But, they seem to be doing well and do like to "oil the squeaky wheel" when people call the "right number." :)

I think they still do better like giving proving clients a real increase 3,000 a start.

There is nothing "Platinum" about AMF fees and APRs of 14.9%. I am not a prime customer yet, but this is not a Prime card. Offers like this will only serve to make the term "Platinum" mean nothing. A few years ago, "Gold" meant you had a good card. Just goes to show that you still have to read the terms before you can judge a card. No longer can you look for a label such as "Platinum".

I got this offer from Capital One three times in a month and they even asked me that do I want apply over the phone. I received a last chance offer from the mail and asked me do I want it. I think Platinium is supposed to be no annual fe, high credit limit. Not 3K cl. lower APR.
