I used PFB on Oct 10 to get a CLI w/ Cap 1. I got a call today from Amanda Mays in the exec office. I guess Mr Cooke has a helper now(from all the requests) or she has replaced him...who knows???
Anyway, she was very nice and helpful and increased my CL from 3200 to 4400. I had requested a CLI to $5K, so I didn't get everything I asked for. But overall I was happy because I have a $300 CLI promotion due to hit that acct any day now(she said her increase wouldn't affect the promotion I was offered) and I also have a $300 toy card I can combine to achieve the $5K total avail credit required to upgrade to Plat. Anyway, just thought I'd share my success. My first PFB success!

    Congratulations! That's great news!

I LOVE hearing about successes, especially after all the crap I've personally had to wade thru in my own credit repair endeavors! It's always nice to know that light at the end of the tunnel is REAL.

Now all I have to do is get all the CLs combined and go charge $4900 worth of TV and take it back a few days after the billing cycle closes! :)

That's what sux about Cap 1. Why does a customer have to PFB to them to get increases or basic customer service?

At least Cap 1 is responsive in that regards, but what if they just become more cs friendly on the 800 line?

    Best regards,
    Mirage

Probably because we here at Creditnet represent a small minority of people who know how to accomplish things. I bet 98% of Cap 1s customers don't know what PFB is and they just assume that no cli is the norm and they don't ever challenge it or they cancel their cards because of the treatment. Instead, Cap 1 would rather that a customer with subprime credit open up 2, maybe even 3 accounts with them and pay a $59 annual fee on each. That's a cash cow for them. Why change it if the majority of people will agree to your terms? We're just a small group that agrees to "OUR" terms.

That is how bad they want you. Every preapproved offer that goes out costs Cap. 1 about 100 dollars on average. If they are just fishing, you'll likely only get 1-2 offers. In my case, Providian and Cap. 1 sent me close to 10 preappoved offers between them. I held them until I got the offer I wanted:

    Cap. 1 -- Initial limit 2200 APR 11.9
    Providian -- Intial limit 5000 APR 10.9

Not bad considering I have a BK on file. I've learned the hard way that a public record on file keeps you out of prime territory for a loooonnnnngggg time.

I still don't get it. How do you use PFB to get a CLI?

You go to PlanetFeedback and fill out a complaint letter stating your case--you've been a cardholder so long, never had late payment, etc, etc, and that you haven't been able to get a credit limit increase. Say you have some major purchase coming up and would like to use this card, or you like this card but don't use it much because you have higher lines on your other cards (don't use that unless it's true--they can check your report), or whatever.

The PlanetFeedback letters go to the executive office.

Go on PFB and look at some of the letters that have been shared, it will give you an idea how to proceed. But they take you through the steps of what your complaint is, how ticked off you are, what you want, etc.
