    Hi,
I have been lurking for several months and have learned alot - thanks!

Pre bk filing and with lates on his Discover, my husband received the Cap One preapproved credit card offer for the card with the $59 fee. Concerned about having no credit card (privileges revoked on other cards, obviously) for emergencies, husband applied, was approved and got (ha ha) $500 limit. I'm on the card as well - SS# and all . . .

I have had my own Cap One account, which will be discharged in bkrtcy ($2500).

Paid the Cap One card fee when statement arrived; then the bkrcty was filed (they are on the matrix b/c of my account) and check online - we have a $0 credit limit! They didn't close the account however.

Any suggestions? Do we attempt to get the fee back? Do we close account? Will taking me off the card help?

All replies and comments will be much appreciated!

Where are you checking the limit? If you're looking at your credit report, then I believe that Capital One doesn't report your credit limit... they only report the highest balance on the card. If you haven't used the card at all, then they will probably just report $0. Of course, if you're looking online at Capital One's account info web site, then I don't know... call Capital One, I guess.. or maybe try to use the card and see what happens... you can do it at a 'pay at the pump' type gas station and just drive off if it doesn't work... that way you won't have to talk to anyone if it is declined.

    HTH,

    Thanks, Brett

The card was declined - that's why I went to my account on their website and found we have no availabe credit for a fee of $59!

I see why you guys avoid them like the plague!

How could the card be declined if you were already approved for the card? I think maybe that is a error online and I would call Cap 1 and get to the bottom of it. The number to call is 1 800 608-5227.
