I working on my Cap 1 Visa and MC to get high enough limits to do a BT from Providian. I've read many post of how some of you have gone from secured to unsecured to gold to platinum in relatively short periods of time. My question is how? I've had my Cap 1 MC since 7/98 and until recently only received small incremental increases. Mr. Cooke recently lowered APR to 15.9% and approved $300 line increased at beginng of December via PFB. CL had been sitting at $900 for what seems for ever. Thanks creditnet. Applied for Cap 1 Visa gold on a whim. Approved for regular at 14.9% with $300 credit line. What gives? How do I get the rapid accent to Platinum?

Kind of hard to tell how they work. I recieved a Cap1
1 1/2 years ago and have a $500 limit currently.

Recieved an application for the Platinum just today.
Not pre-approved but for up to $7500 limit.

All they want is my SSN. My scores are around 574 or so and I don't think I would be approved so I will wait until the end of January to apply. Hopefully Ill be above 600 although I am not sure what that would do.

Whats your history since you got the Cap1? No late/no over limit is important.

cap 1 platinum requires $5000 credit line. When your credit reaches that point, mr cooke may on a good day, upgrade you :)

I spoke with an account manager today. No lates and no over the limits. I know I went over my limit back in August by a few bucks. I paid off my tuition loan from summer school so I could give my parents my diploma from college. It was mention previously when I requested CL increase back in August but wasn't this today. Account manager said I had developed an excellent record with them. She mentioned they look at responsible use of Cap 1 account more than referring to CR. All CR list as never been late. No lates on anything since 1997.

What about the Gold card? The CSR couldn't tell me.

I had success with Cap One through PFB. Requested to go to unsecured and it was processed. Mr. Euguene Cook (I think his name is on other threads) left a voicemail for me to this end with his phone number as well. Two business days to respond. I still haven't heard from MBNA and it has been weeks!

So If I apply I would be rejected? If so have you ever heard of them offering a Gold card in its place?

My girlfriend got their gold card offer in the mail and received it after applying. I applied online and received there standard card at what the CSR called their Platinum Rate 14.9%.
