    The bad:

I called Cap One to ask for my card to be upgraded from Gold to Platinum. I was told that because my card was secured there was no way it could ever be converted to a Platinum. I asked for no annual fee - NO. I asked for a lower APR or CL increase - NO. Oh well....

    The good:

Called Citi about my new Sony Platinum Select card. The APR was 12.74% (prime + 7.99) but was reduced to 9.9 FIXED. I can't freakin' believe it. This more than makes up for the Cap One crap.

    Mel,
If you search for CapOne or "Capital One", or Cap1 etc...you will see that many others have found the exact same thing with Capital One. But the insiders here know that PlanetFeedBack.com can get you places where Cap1's customer support reps could not.

PFB will get your message to the Executive offices and you will have someone contact you who has the patience to listen to your situation, and power to change things if you have a valid point about your account.

Generally they go by past history with them and less about the AR (but they do take the AR into consideration) so...if you have had a brief history with Cap1 and/or late payments etc... you will get no help even from PFB...but if you have been paying ontime and have had the account for some time, you can get very positive results from PFB and Cap1.

Citi does have excellent reps, nice APR you got, congrats.

    Good Luck

    Thanks Nave,

I tried with the Executive Offices. Didn't get Mr Cooke but another person. She indicated that they do not upgrade my type of account (secured to Platinum), she even put a request in for herself LOL. Should I called back and ask for Mr.Cooke?

She may be right...there may be no way to upgrade certain cards or even combine certain cards, just impossible. But they can get your card unsecured, and then you could upgrade or apply and combine for the platinum.

By the way that is what I had to do for the platinum because the limit on a card MUST be 5000 or more before Cap1 can upgrade to platinum and my gold card is 2800. So I had to apply for the platinum and then I could combine the plat and the gold into one plat.

I would send another PFB and say you understand that they can not simply convert the secured card to platinum but maybe they could discuss with you some creative solution to your answer, such converting the secured card to Classic, applying for a platinum card and then combining or something like that.

    Good Luck,

    -Peace, Dave

They can also BT them to a new Platinum card and waive any bt fees, which would accomplish what you are asking them to do.
