Hello everyone. I have been on the road to credit recovery since Sept. of this year, and have already had a 37-point success in just two short months. Right now, I've been working on the little stuff, but I'll soon be hitting up the big boys including Capital One. I currently have a Cap One Charge Off with my last activity in 2000, I believe. (My story is everyone wanted to give me credit when I was 18, and I couldn't say no, so now I'm paying for it.) Anyway, I was curious to hear if anyone has had any luck with them working with you. I know that Cap One will probably validate this debt (although I'll still sent them letter), but just was curious what kind of boat I am in with them. **What I would like to happen, is pay off as much as this as I can on this, and maybe have them open a new account with the remaining balance transfered over so I can continue to pay on that, and have them delete that nasty charge off tradeline. Is this wishful thinking? Thanks! Roola Exp: 9/03-562 11/03 599 TU: ?? EQ: ??
forgot to mention that the reason why i want to do this is because this was my very first credit card (opened in '98), and is my oldest tradeline. any thoughts or experiences with Cap One is much appreciated. roola24
Cap1 is very difficult to deal with as far as removing/ediing any tradelines, just to prepare you. It is always a good idea to try to request removal, but don't expect anything. If this happened in 2000, then it should be falling off your reports soon anyway, how close are you to scheduled removal?
