so far, i have contacted them twice, on my first contact they raised a limit on one card $500, on the second contact they unsecured another card. the executive office and the consumer advocate are definately the way to go if you are not happy with retention dept. what's been your experience, if any?

How long did you wait between contacts? I had success with Capital One last week and was wondering when it would be prudent to try again.

they are really nice. They unsecured my secured card, dropped the deposit in as a credit to my balance, closed the account, transferred the limit+$200 to my gold card, and lowered the APR to 15.9% all at once :)

    Mr miller definitely responds well.

How did you have it before they unsecured it?

I don't know about JTW, but I called and asked them for a limit increase and to unsecure my account after 13 months.

Since I asked them about the limit increase first, they gave me $250. Then they said they couldn't unsecure the card for six months after the last limit increase. That's when I used planetfeedback and got my card unsecured and got the interest lowered to 15.9%.

They do have a prime card, and I don't know if it reports limits or not. This really isn't a problem for me because I used Yahoo Paydirect to max my Cap One (way non-prime) for one reporting period. I just got a credit line increase last week but also requested a balance transfer from one of my Providian cards so the new limit will be maxed and paid down over a couple of reporting periods.

How do you do that through PFB? I signed up for PFB awhile back but didn't know exactly how to go about the goodwill letters or requesting lower rates so I just sorta left it alone and this made me think about it. I assume it would be a question letter but maybe not?

This thread is over 10 years old, so please keep in mind there's a high probability the contact has changed even if the OP does respond.

Frankly, I wouldn't waste your time trying to go through PFB for this type of request. If you want to get a lower interest rate, I would call them up and request it. If your credit scores have improved and you're managing your account responsibly, hopefully you'll get it.

I had a $200 CapOne secured cards for about 6 months with perfect payment history. I never had the balance higher then 10% of the credit limit. I applied for a CapOne platinum card and they gave me a $2000 limit. I still have the platinum card but I closed the secured card. Thanks! Heather with BoostMyScore.NET
