Everyone who has received the Capital One guaranteed approval up to $7500 offer, 14.9 APR and $59 AMF, who (after receiving the card) attempted to get the initial credit line increased (if you received something like a $500 limit) before or during activation, and how many were successful in negotiating a higher initial credit line?

    Mindcrime,
If you do a search here for Cap One Plat, you're find quite a few threads about this very topic.

For the record, I got one back in March, initial CL was $500. I called to cancel (hoping for an increase) and they wouldn't. The CSR was ready to close the account.

I left it open due to 0% APR for purchases until July 2002 and 2.9% BT. On March 28, they increased my CL to 5000.

    Hope this helps.

Shantel, congratulations on getting your credit line increased to 5k. Capital One is VERY conservative when it comes down to giving credit line increases. My highest credit line increase with Capital One was a $700 increase and that was thru PFB.

DANG, SHANTEL! YOU GOT SOME "PULL" GIRLFRIEND! COULD YOU CALL FOR ME? BUT NOT YET. . . YOU KNOW I CAN'T GET ANYMORE CREDIT UNTIL I APPLY FOR "MY" MORTGAGE! ;0)

MINDCRIME, MAYBE SHANTEL WILL CALL FOR "YOU". :0)

BY THE WAY GUYS, SINCE WE'RE ON THE SUBJECT OF CAP ONE.
. . .DO YOU THINK THAT THIS WOULD HELP CREDIT SCORES?

IF I GOT A LETTER FROM CAP ONE STATING MY CREDIT LIMIT AND SENT THAT LETTER TO THE CRA'S FOR THEM TO POST ON MY CR'S, WOULD "THAT" BE EASIER THAN CHARGING THE CARD TO THE CL AND THEN PAYING IT OFF THE NEXT MONTH?

    Easy on the caps, Please.

Why not just send a copy of your statement with whatever personal info you want crossed out?
    CL is on the statement.

    Oooh...DUH Mindcrime2.....
No, I got my CapOne Plat in JAN (just looked at the card). In 2 months, I got a $4500 increase. How? I wish I knew. I didn't ask, didn't call (okay, I did when I got the CL initially, but not since then), no PBM, no Mr. Cooke. I just got a letter last week saying on 3/28, they increased my CL. Go figure!

LOL Keller....I don't have any pull. Believe me, if I had any connections, believe me, I'd post them so fast that it would make your head spin.

However, you hold out for the mortgage and you'll have your OWN pull!

No PBM huh Shantel? I wonder who you have on your mind. :)

Okay okay... so you didn't ask for that increase. I'd love to know who reviewed your account for it though. Most of us here can't break the $700-$1k increase every six months rule.

I personally don't think that will help. Sure, the CRA might update your Cap1 account to show your credit line based on the letter/cc statement you show them, but the next month when Cap1 reports on the tape it will be reporting no credit limit, so unless you do this every month it's probably a waste of time.

Do the monthly tapes actually say no credit limit? Or does Cap One just not "automatically" report your limit. What I mean is, Cap One, under normal circumstances, does not report limit, just your high balance. But if a consumer were to send in proof of credit limit, why wouldn't it stick? I don't think Cap One is purposely sending monthly tape updates that say N/A credit limit, I just think since they do not initially report your limit to the CRA, it doesn't (can't) show up, but if someone were to successfully have it added, it should stay.

I mean, don't the creditors and CRA's claim they can only report accurate information? Well then, if the CRA receives proof of a consumers credit limit, they now need to report that. I know it really should lie on the creditors shoulders to do that, but since Cap One is so set in its' own ways, a consumer who wants the limit to report, should be able to have it do just that.

I could help. Last year, I mailed a letter to each of the CRA's along with a copy of a statement showing the CL. Each one of them posted it.

Thanks Hope for clearing that up.

One more question, (I assume) from your post the credit lines have stayed on your reports and not gone back to N/A again?
