I think they give out increases every six months if your accounting is in good standing. You should call and ask for it, though (I had to).
Good standing includes not going overlimit. The CL increases are usually $250-$300 per six months. If you think you deserve more contact their CA through PFB. Keep in mind Cap 1 is very conservative and the CL increases are very tight for most sub-primers. Best regards, Mirage
Don't know if .37¢ will hinder it but a friend of mine went over by $10.00 and Cap 1 use that to slow down his increase. So if you went over in Oct. start the clock from there. You can always plead your to the CA via PFP. Overall history plays a factor in this and the CA may pull a hard inquiry. Best regards, Mirage
Day 1 they gave me a $300.00 card I asked for an increase before I even charged a dime...they said no, I said give me retention...someone else picked up and I said I needed a cl increase or I won't even activate the card, and they gave me a token $200. I also asked for a lower payment, they cut the fee in half. .... then about a month later after I got some items removed from TU and EX (they pulled both for me) I PFB'd/Mr Miller'd them, he had me fax my updated reports to him and he gave me a $1300 increase...he said they could only do $1000 now and then he would do another $300 in a week (something about the system's maximum increase) and now I have $1800 on CapOne and want to cut it up since I have 3 prime cards much larger limits and much lower rates, but will probably leave it for the 24 months before I decide whether or not to trash it. After all I was VERY happy with the customer service even though the demeaning $300 start off. I may keep it if they move me to the no fee no hassle card. -Peace, Dave
I started with $300 partially secured and am now at $1,050 unsecured. But get this -- Mr. Miller switched me to a variable rate in May (at the time it worked out to 15.9%) and as of my last statement the APR was under 14%. I'd like to dump mine, but it's the second best rate I have, so I'll keep it.
I had there card but i cant see paying annual fee's anymore..The intrest rate was ok at 14.9 fixed and a limit of 600 but i closed it..My best card is citi with a 14k limit and 7.65 variable rate...try and get citi aadvantage!
I received Cap 1 gold card Oct 2000, started with $200.00 Credit limit. On my 1 year mark I was up to $500.00 C/L and I expected a moderate C/L increase since I had a perfect history with them, they gave me a whopping $100.00 increase. I sent them a snail mail letter to customer relations to be reconsidered waited 30 days nothing. Decided to send them a letter through PFB next day email from Mr. Cooke to call him $700.00 increase no problem, super nice guy. Two day's later I get answer from snail mail (FORM LETTER) "YOUR PRESENT CREDIT LIMIT HAS NOT BEEN MAINTAINED FOR SIX MONTHS". Funny how this company has two sides like Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. Wish I could get that NO HASSLE CARD Redline
The rule for subprime cap 1 holders is $50 increase per month since last increase. They are not very aggresive. They will be more than glad to issue you another card (with a fee) however.
I went over a few cents, I called them and they removed it.(overage and charge) I did not know that they would approve anything over the cl.
even if they waive the fee's it will come back and haunt you. They don't forget about it good luck. try mr cooke later on.
Last January we had two over the-limit fees with two late fees ($116) on one Cap 1 removed. Plus $29 late fees on two other cards all removed during one customer service phone call. The payments where missed following an auto accident with injuries (forgotten in the confusion). Six months latter when trying to do something it was mentioned. Same month went through Advocates Office no mention and no problem with getting changes. The new Cap One is much kinder. In January of 1998 we left our apartment for 7 days after losing power during a major ice storm. 80% of the state lost power. I made an over the phone payment two days late, paid late fee plus check processing fee despite being in a disaster area. A month later the fees were refunded.
