Applied for a Capital One mastercard about 5 days ago. Called to check the status today. Approved for the classic , line of $300. Pshhh $300 - Oh well its a tradeline :O) I'll give em a call or PFB Mr. Cooke and see if I can get that raised when I receive the card. Now I have Cap. One Visa, Target, Chevron, Chevron Premium (not sure if the premium will take place of the basic or not yet), and the Cap. One Mastercard. Time to let em sit and age now .....

Other than the $300 card WHAT IS YOUR NEXT LOWEST???

STATE FARM gave me a "TOY" card...it was 80% LOWER THAN MY LOWEST LIMIT...I CALLED THEM ON IT...THEY SAID IT WAS AN "ERROR IN JUDGEMENT"...MATCHED MY
LOWEST @ $5,000, LATER I DUMPED THEM WHEN I HAD THE BT PROBLEM...that's another story....

My target guest card has a limit of $200 - used it once so it'd start reporting and I havnt used it since. We dont shop at Target. My Cap. One visa has a limit of $1,000. I PFB'ed Mr. Cooke about that last month and they raised it from $300 to $1,000. My Chevron card(s) have a limit of $600.

SECOND CARDS WITH CAPITAL ONE ARE ALWAYS AT A LOWER LIMIT...

    Wife's first CAPITAL ONE $6,000
    Second one, $3,000

PFB combine to $9,000 and close the newest one.
MR COOKE DID IT NO PROBLEMS, EXCEPT NO INCREASE IN THE LIMIT AT THE SAME TIME...the oldest card was about 7 months old...

How can I get a hold of Mr. Cooke??? To get mine raised, I have had it for 4 years and only a $900 limit, I have tried the I will close my account and they raised it $100 and lowered my interest rate by 3%. Can I e-mail him? Or does it have to be done throught he web??? I have tried it through PFB about 1 month ago and have received no response, Thank You for your help

    TRY PFB AGAIN...

It isn't KOSHER to talk to him unless he has talked to you first...(or called you or E-MAILED YOU)

Just read some of the other people's letters for ideas...DON'T COPY THEIR LETTER
WORD- FOR-WORD (somebody copied mine for TARGET VISA)!!!

    TRY SHORT AND SWEET...

I have it reversed-My Capital One Gold MC opened Dec01/Jan02 has $1,000.00 limit, and newer Plat MC has $1,800.00 limit. The company is very fair and receptive to requests, Mr Cooke is assertive and helpful; etc, but when trying to establish a decent ratio score always remeber that Cap One will some what be a hindrance unless you have charged your limit, and paid off or returned item(s) etc to show your actual cl under high balance, otherwise they will not be as helpful since the tradeline(s) only reports the highest balance ever(the highest amt charged and cycled)(I feel this is improper, but they must be permitted to do so...) My recent Platinum opened in 8/02 is already being rported to all 3 cra's, with 0 bal and technically a 0 cl--as I never charge on a new card right away, so the card skipped the too new to rate status and reported after 9/20 as pays as agreed never late--this is the cycle date.) Take notice the different credit scores of mine did not take a drop but actually a boost on 2 of the three(Eq(10pts)-and EX(2pts)) and my stagnat TU score remains unchanged. In honest sincerity I thought my scores would take a little fall at first, but then again it is a "rng thing." I believe a large composite of the credit scoring model is revolving balance to limit ratio,so therfore with more capital one cards in your report you will find Capital One does not help you in that respect, but overall a good choice for the ability to have additional tradelines in your report.

Today I received the terms and conditions for this card in the mail. APR 19.8% (same as the visa) with a annual fee of $59. Of course I'll accept it because I need the additional tradeline. But I Have a question. I plan on PFB'ing Mr. Cooke and asking him if he'll waive the annul fee, and increase the limit, or at least waive the free and decrease the apr. Hell I'd be happy with them waiving the fee! Of course im going to wait 'til I actually get the card in the mail before I do this. You guys think I have a good chance of him doing this ? History with capital one is only a year.

You can even try general customer service if your adamant about what you want, and are able to support your reasons-- i.e. have an open account with Cap 1 for 12mos actt # XXXX, perfect payment history, etc use this valuable concrete information for leverage(which the inbound csr will be able to see--accts linked) I agree though, I would wait for the card to arrive(which is usually the day after you receive the black welcome envelope--from past experience) before making any attempt-as the rep will need to know what acct it is. Using the general customer service line worked great for me--now this was on both my Gold and Platinum accts--I also used Mr Cooke's assistance but it was for the Gold account. I am not sure if the card color makes a difference in this case, but they all seem very helpful when you want something as long as it is feasable--and then of course if you feel you were not served appropriately then I would pfb Mr. Cooke. Basically its all about the chain of command, and by having an account with them already in good standing--they probably will be flexible--especially with that annual fee--ouch!--for example if you dont charge on it and when your bill cycles for the first time-- the annual fee will be charged and when this reports to your cr it will appear as if your card is at 100% utilization(as the high balance is reported limit) Good luck in negotiating better terms with Cap 1

hey Eric I got offered the same crappy card you did. I also got ahold of Mr. Cooke to waive the annual fee or raise the cl. That was a big no can do. My scores were about the same as yours at the time so you may be wasting your time. Also, the cl does not matter because the stupid card is being listed with a 0 cl right now and I did not accept or activate the card. I called and he said he would remove it from my credit reports but it could take up to 90 days. sigh.

is your chevron card reporting yet?

Well once I get the card im going to PFB him and just see what he says - all he can say is no. Either way im going to accept the card because I need the tradeline. $59 annual fee, thats higher than the secured was !!!

Nope Chevron hasnt started reporting yet, and I havnt gotten the premium card from them yet either. Does anyone know how long cards will be rated as "too new to rate." My stupid target card still is rated as that, im sure its affecting my score in some way.
