YUP - Mr. Cooke - PFB - put me to $7100 from $5900. I am very pleased - my variable purchase rate is 8.14% - cash around 10%. I normally do not use cash, but $7100 is available in cash. I PFB-d Cap One - because - I had a REP tell me that $5900 was the highest limit available for my Plat Card. Well - it went up. I cannot believe that this card started out as a $500 partially secured card, then mutated several times into a $7100 limit. YES, I did run up a $5323 bill, then returned the merchandise - and Cap One has reported $5323 as high credit ever since. Cap One definitely worked for the Dogman. aarrff - dogman
Good for you. At least someone is getting something from them. Personally, I still hate them and have no regrets about closing my account. Crappy rates, low limit and an annual fee made me say 'goodbye'. It's been about six weeks since I closed the account too and they've made no overtures at all to get me back. Surely there's a support group for people like me.
Way to go, dogman. I didn't think you could convert a partially secured card, or did you have to transfer? Now I guess you have to buy $7100 worth of merchandise and return it?
Hey dogman, congrats dude! I also started as $500 partial secured and thanks to PFB, it is now $5100, so yeah it does take time, but worth the history. BUT, I still cannot get the no-hassle nor have I been solicited for the 4.99% card what are they looking for? FICO 800 or something????
I sent an E-MAIL (not PFB) to CAPITAL ONE asking about the 4.99% and they said I (SHE or WE) must call due to SECURITY ISSUES... WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID OF??? "IF" I was afraid of E-MAIL would I have used it???
Just another excuse to get you to call. Of course, when you do, they'll try to sell you all kinds of stuff. I don't remember if it was Cap One or Chase, but one of them gave you a spiel trying to sell their credit protection or some other service, and you had to listen to all the crap BEFORE you could even get the option to speak to a rep.
Yes you are correct Hedwig - the automated attendant gives you the pitch - at Cap One - while you try to get status or whatever.
Congrats Dog!!! I was thinking about contacting them to get the 4.9 fixed. I am at 9.9 fixed presently. Has anyone been able to get lowered to 4.9 fixed, or do you need to reapply? -NiceGuy
Hi NiceGuy! - I did not ask for a lower %, and was happy to get to $7100. Mr. Cooke was funny as well - I have always dealt only with him - He said, "You know, Dogman, I understand how you desired $7500 credit line - I could help, but not quite that high - er $7100 and automatic evaluations for CL increases - will that work?" THEN - I told him I was happy because EXP just went 100% CLEAN w 698...and asked him if I wanted the VISA SIGNATURE MILES, should I apply now, or wait for the other reports to disinfect? He said just wait until they are all clean - then I could have whichever card I wanted. BUT, NiceGuy, after talking with AMEX, it is clear the second the 3 bureaus are clean, the reports are sold to all the banks for pre-approved cards. Thanks! I would definitiely say that's worth a shot - if that's your INTEREST - arf - LOL! Its a shame you never can get ANY decision on anything thru reg CS channels.....but you do get GREAT service from Mr. Cooke and Team... Doors seem to be unlocking NiceGuy.....I see it.... aarrff - doggin it tonight dogman
Re: Re: CAP ONE now $7100! Thanks, Dog! I am not going to make any moves for the next 8 days, then all bets are off! Though, the anticipation is killing me! Hopefully, when 10/1 arrives and I login to check EQ and TU, they will join EXP and the public record will be history! Then it will be time for celebration!!! The three of us who are in this situation should go out on the town for a "Clean Reports Celebration"! How does NYC sound?! -NiceGuy
Re: Re: CAP ONE now $7100! Thats right. CSR's should have alot more authority than they do at Cap. 1 If your not going to empower them, they are no better than trained monkeys
Re: Re: Re: CAP ONE now $7100! THERE YA' GO AGAIN...downgrading the monkeys... The trained monkeys DO serve a purpose
Re: Re: Re: CAP ONE now $7100! "IF" the trained monkeys ran the show...AT LEAST SOMETHING WOULD GET DONE
Re: Re: CAP ONE now $7100! NYC sounds great - OR - how about the Saturday fullDAY tour at Gator World in Orlando?
Re: Re: CAP ONE now $7100! Dogman and Niceguy what about good ole Chi-town? I'm still hesitate in applying for any cc. I am in the progress of obtaining a 15 year fixed mortgage waiting to see if the rates can improve. The clean reports are a plus. Best regards, Mirage ps- Dogman, congrats on the increase from Cap 1. Now you got me rethinking about my Cap 1.
Mirage and Dog: I'm up for anywhere but NC at the moment! After cleaning up the debris from Isabel this weekend, I could use a break. At least there was no damage to the house though, we were much luckier than those down east. I am ready for the Blue 7.99 fixed! I understand about your refi concerns though Mirage. I just did one last month. I went for a 20 yr fixed this time at 5.75 with no points through a CU with no origination fee, just $100 processing fee and I was happy with that. Onward and upward! -NiceGuy
