I have a capital one (partially) secured visa. $49 sec, $600 cr line. I've had the acc. for 1yr and 1month, i've never been late, no over limit charges, usually make 2-3 payments per month, always over min due. i carry a substantial bal (usually over $500-$550). my question is , is it possible to upgrade from this (secured) to a gold card? (or would i have to go to a classic card first which is unsecured......would shooting off a letter to their consumer adv. ( Mr Cooke I believe is the name ) do me any good? is what i'm asking for reasonable?

    much thanks in advance...

doesn't matter what card you upgrade to. Not like theres much difference between classic and gold but a higher annual fee :)

Call mr Cooke if it has been truly 13 months and you'll get your deposit back.

sam... thanks for the info... one reason why i'm asking about the gold card is higher cr line and benefits gold carries over classic. it truly has been 13 months, i'm not even interested in my dep back. another question:
would cap one just upgrade my exsisting, or would they open another acc? would of these two scenarios be better for me in long run? -btw gold card AMF on website is $39, i'm paying $29 on current.

They should upgrade your current account, Cap One allows multiple accounts. try applying online, see what they offer.
