Just to let everyone know. I got a new Gold $200 limit card from Cap1 last week, and asked how to get it raised. You guys suggested calling Cap1 first, so I did: denied any increase... So, step 2: Planet Feedback. I got a call from Mr. Cook (I guess Mr. M is out on vacation or something, maybe he has talked to me too much!), and he said he will raise it to $700. He gave me another $500. For Cap1, that is really good! My next step in 6 months (after 0% intro rate goes up to 19%), is to get that increased again, and the interest rate lowered. Just thought I would let you guys know how it went! Thanks for the advice!
Yes, $700 is a lot better. Especially for a so-called Gold card. $200 isn't very much. But I am on the bandwagon now. No more cards for the next 2 years for me. After that, I should have a good enough history to get some good cards!
i did the same thing a week ago. didn't have to complain to anyone. I just called up and told them where they could stick the card, the c/s lady increased it to 700 as well. Same day i cancelled that beautiful paypal credit card, im tired of low limit cards.
I just called CapOne to close my new Gold visa ($200 limit). I have a balance of $136 on it right now. Anyway, I spoke with a guy named Adam and after I explained that the limit was too low and the annual fee was too high, he offered a $300 increase. He asked if there was anything else and I didn't want to be too greedy so I told him no. I will call back in a few months and see what else I can get. By the way, I left a message for Mr. Cooke, but he never returned my call. That's why I decided to call and try out the "close my acct" method. I guess a $500 limit is better than $200.
