Hi, I received the Cap1 Plat "Guaranteed Approval" in the mail, so I decided to throw caution to the wind (had a bad experience due to my irresponsibility with Cap1 in the past but it was "resolved" four years ago) and apply online. Afterwards, I got the generic "you'll hear from us in 7-10 business days" message online. Am I to understand that this is a decline? I tried to do my research here and it seemed that if you got a "pre-approval" it was up in the air about approval but the "guaranteed approval" seemed more likely to be approved. (Of course not guaranteed!) Second question - is there a number to call for status? Maybe 1-800 CAPITAL, or do you just bite your nails and wait?
I received the same offer in the mail some time ago. Unlike you, I mailed mine back. Took a couple of weeks to get the card. As long as your reports haven't taken any hits in the last several weeks, there should be no reason why you would not be approved. I called the regular c/s number about a week or so after I mailed it to check on the status, and the rep I spoke to (ask for the credit department when you call, BTW) told me I was approved and gave me my credit line.
