    Hi all,

I recently got a preapproved platinum offer from cap1... went ahead and filled out the web form - $500CL with a $40 fee.

I have around 15k available on other cards, so I figured I'll call them to try & cancel - expecting they'd waive the fees & increase the CL since I do like the warranty benefits of the card.

Anyway, I called & said I wanted to cancel... she says "I credited back the $39 fee and it will automatically cancel after the next billing cycle if it remains unused." (I haven't activated it yet).

My question is this... if I use it will they add the fee back on? She didn't say it was removed - just credited back.

I did try the PFB route first, but instead of a call from Mr. Cooke, I got an automated message saying that I need to call customer service to talk about a specific account.

    Any thoughts?

Since they said it will be credited if it remains unused makes me think that if you use it you inherit the fee. I would call customer service to clarify it. Sometimes one rep will do more for you than others. I've had it happen to me when trying to get fees waived.
