Does anyone have any idea of how many Cap1 cards a person can hold? I currently have 2. and would like to get more, b/c their limit increases are so small.. eventually combine, upgrade.. etc. I have seen posts of 3.. is there a timeframe between cards, when you can apply for another? Thanks!

C1 told me 45 days between applying for each card. Don't know of any limits on amount of cards.

I currently have 3. I just got a pre-approval today for another (gold). I think I will go for it.

    radiohead,

One time I had 3 Cap1 cards and two were unsecured (1 Visa with $200 credit limit and 1 M/C with $1000 credit limit) and 1 secured M/C with 3500 credit limit. Now I have 2 unsecured M/C. (regular M/C and Kmart M/C).

Ouch! This credit system is so confusing. Sometime you have too many inquires, sometimes too little credit, sometimes too much credit, sometimes the credit is to new, blah blah... haha

I can't wait until I get to make the CRA's get to work.... I think this will be fun.

They didn't pull all three for me... I think Equifax and TU. I used to live in NY

    radiohead,

Even you have excellent credit they will give subprime terms or denied you.

Ron is right don't waste the inquiries

I received the Cap1 card today and will call tomorrow
If the fee is not removed and limit increased I will return to sender with my declined letter of their services.

I was accepted for the Getsmart card w/ no annual fee and a nice starter limit

    ng,

Cap1 didn't like to waive annual fee and didn't like to increase credit limit. I tried to waive annual fee for Cap1 card and they always told me to sign up MCI Long distance. Of course I said No. I tried to get them to increase limit for Kmart Mastercard and they told me I cannot request credit limit increase and they will increase credit limit if I meet their requirement.

I was shocked to see no activation sticker on this card and they already had the annual fee due by 2/5/02
I just received the card yesterday in the mail.

So I called this morning and was transferred to a manager who agreed to waive the fee and will look to
adjust the limit in a few months.
They seemed to want my business so I agreed to give Cap1 a try for now.

    ng,

All my Cap1 including Kmart card had a red activation stick in the front of the card. I'm glad to hear they waive your annual fee. Cap1 is very nice bank and I had my secured card ever since 94 and they were Signet Bank. Now I have two Cap1 card from them (one is regular Cap1 M/C and Kmart M/C).Keep it in mind they don't like to increase credit limit so often. I had 4 times on my Cap1 for three yrs and 1 time on my Kmart card for over 1 yr.
Cap1 has good customer service. One time they're willing to lower the rate of Kmart card to 9.9% fixed if I have any balance transfer. Last month they credit back $14.00 portion of annual fee to my account. Cap1 cards don't have any bonus at all.
