I rec'd something in the mail stating Cap1 purchased 'my' first Consumers Prf charge off. They offered to open another credit card with a 1% APR on the charged off debt....there's more but my main question is, is this legal?

I am sure this debt is beyond the SOL;however, this notice didn't come from a debt collection company so I am not sure if I can request a full validation. What do I do?

    Thanks

To all of those interested it turns out that this is some sort of 'trick'/new strategy. I turned the letter over and read all of the fine print. The mini miranda is sort of imbedded in a clause stating , "If this is the first leter you have received from us regarding this debt.....".

So...I am firing off a validation letter to them ASAP.
