Got a response in the mail yesterday to my goodwill letter dated July2.

Two 30 day late notations (from 2000) placed my Cap1 secured account on the negative items list on Exp (CE) and Eq. TAKEN OFF!

I checked CW & CE today and they are no longer reported as late! OPEN/CURRENT

Also, disputed with EXP a 'duplicate' student loan tradeline and after 30 days -- it's been removed!

My scores are taking a boost too:
    Exp from 638 (6/20) to 667 (7/23)
    EQ from 638 (6/25) to 652
    TU ?

Thank you creditnetters for your advice, support and the invaluable knowledge on this board!

    Next steps:
*Remove 2 30 day lates from paid Providian (GOOD LUCK!)
*Remove 2 30 day lates from Fleet ($400 left on account) -> should I call CS and offer full payment in exchange for deletion of lates or via mail?
*Clean up Chase Student loan tradelines from '96 (some show a combination of 30, 60 & 120+ lates -- transferred).

Congratulations ! I am trying to do something similiar myself. Which template did you use for the goodwill letter ? I have been looking for one and have been unable to find it. I also have some Cap 1 credit card marks from about 2 years ago that I am trying to remove.

Do you have a copy of the goodwill letter sent to Capital One? I tried to have 1 30 days late payment removed with Mr Cooke, with no luck. I knew it was possible.

    Great Job!

Could you email a copy of the letter to me? I asked Mr. Cooke on the phone and outright told me "no". Maybe, if I send a sugary-sweet letter it will work.

I hope this works for you.....

I'll post up the CO response later today.

Just checked my TU report [TU score still 638]. They have not updated their records. Should I fax a copy of the CO letter and request they update? [and send me another report while they're at it!!!]

    REF: Account 5291-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to you concerning my Capital One secured MasterCard account # 5291-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. I have had this account since September 1994 and have enjoyed the conveniences and priveledges that this card has provided me. I also appreciate that Capital One has extended an offer for a Gold Visa & Platinum cards in the past year. I look forward to being a Capital One cardholder for a many years to come.

I have one concern about my secured account that I am requesting your assistance with. As reported in credit reports with Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, this account is shown as a derogatory trade line, due to two alleged late payments (30 days) in May and December 1999. According to Experian, this account will not go to a â??positiveâ? status until 2006.

I am asking as a Capital One cardholder for almost 8 years, if you can remove these two 30 day late notations from the 3 credit reporting agency reports, as an act of goodwill.

In the past three years, I have taken careful measures to ensure that my payments to Capital One have been for more than the minimum balance and more importantly, received in a timely manner. I applaud your efforts to educate customers about using the Capital One website for access to account information, balances and payments. In addition to being an active user of the Capital One website, I have been using an EFT bill paying service to ensure that my payments are sent well in advance of the due dates.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this letter, and I hope that you can find it in the kindness of your heart to assist me with this request.

    Sincerely yours,
