After the treasonous judge post I have concluded that offtopic isn't viewed so badly. Or maybe it wasn't offtopic and I misunderstand. Before posting, I have done much more reading than posting. Starting a thread that would be taken badly wasn't really my idea of a good way to introduce myself. If this one violates any rules, please let me know, lock it, whatever is necesary. My apologies in advance if that is the case. My credit isn't good and it isn't bad. My scores are 610 FACO, 630 FICO. Maybe a little lower now, because a cute sales girl convinced me to get a bon ton card (that was probably the only time in my life I will be in that shop, d'oh!). I haven't been able to get TU because verification never fails to fail and I haven't been rejected for credit (my state is NY). Hoping to get my score a little higher so I could finance a small car, I came here and found great information. Many of you have loads to say about cars, and rightfully so, but it is really seems a need for me as I am getting my BA and will have to move at least 3 hours from my girlfriend. The relationship is important and the only transportation link between us will be ghettohound which runs 60$ rt, roughly te equivalent of a car payment and insurance if I visit her on the weekends. One thing that I could find no information on, despite searching and reading MANY threads on was Cap1's goodwill. Calling them up led me to believe they have none. I have had one late payment (between 30-60 days late, the record only states past 30 days) over a year ago. Not believing everything I hear is one of my good qualities, so I didn't immediately believe cap1 about their own policy. Many hours on creditnet later, I found nothing and now ask the members for help. Does capital one do goodwill adjustments? And, tangentially, would a goodwill adjustment help my rating all that much? I have one derog in both of the scores (interestingly enough, different derogs). If I can get the feeling of how to pose questions on this board, I will pose more later. What is a bon ton? Cap 1 is hit or miss. (and more miss than hit) My suggestion would be to send an email thru planetfeedback, and see if you have any luck.
Thanks. I just did that. Bonton is an old ladies department store (flame suit). I am neithe rold nor a lady -- yet. They have one in the local mall here in Binghamton. I went with my girlfriend while we were shopping for trousers. It was funny, because I just went in to get a box of chocolates for her and then I was making jokes with the cute clerk --ok she was damn cute-- anyhow my girlfriend was right there and pointed out that I was flirting. We have a good relationship and I have never been accused like that before. While not admitting it to her, she was right. I didn't notice though while doing it.
