Someone I know just got the platinum, after having a gold for several years. The platinum has a higher cl, but the gold has been on his credit report for several years.

Will Cap1 report the platinum as a new card, and close the gold?

Was this a big mistake score-wise?

Was he upgraded to the platinum, or did he apply for it and get approved?

If he applied, the platinum will report as a new card, and gold will be left untouched (open).

    Hi Mindcrime,
He was upgraded. Why the difference? (I'm beginning to get a bad feeling about this.)
    Thanks.

If it was a straight upgrade, then it will not report as a new credit line, it will simply continue on from the old credit line.

Don't worry, you don't need to be having a bad feeling about it. I had the same thing done to one of my C1 cards and the old tradeline was retained, they simply changed the account number slightly.

Whew, I'm glad to hear that, since it was my idea that he request the upgrade. Guess I'd better tend to my own business until I graduate from CNU.
    Thanks Mindcrime.

    CNU, LOL.

Hey, maybe I can put THAT on my resume. :)

BTW, you're welcome for the info. Glad I could help.
