I have a Cap1 Plat card that I got 2 months ago. My creditline is 300.00 I've never went over that and I've paid my account account ontime since I had it. I keep reading on here about a Mr Cooke. Who is he? How do you contact him? Can he grant a Limit increase? If not what are my chances of getting a increase in 2 months per the recording on the 800 number. What is the average increase amount? Thanks in advance Steve J
do searches for mr cooke or planetfeedback.com or cap1 cl increase... you basically write capital one through a website called planetfeedback.com The Capital one page goes to some guy but Mr Cooke pretty much gets them all...
This is gonna be long, but here goes: Keep up the good work, and remember, you can pay online. (I know you knew that ;-) He is a consumer advocate for Capital One. You can reach him by going to www.planetfeedback.com He can grant increases, but I am wondering if your account is too new? 6 months seems to be their rule. Some people get 200.00. I have seen some posts that have seen increases of 1000 or more. I think it depends upon your internal score with them. I have also read that it also depends upon your credit. If you search for posts here for Capital One, you will read that they are tightening up with credit limit increases, and the issuing of new accounts. Whatever happens, I wish you luck... Thanks in advance Steve J [/B][/QUOTE]
PFB is the way to go for contacting Eugene Cooke. Explain your situation & why you want the increase (Balance Transfers are good reasons). Sometimes he can pull strings that regular CSReps can't. Good luck.
Just an FYI........ I'm pretty sure it IS your INTERNAL score with them. They basically like to see you charge it way up and then pay it off - or pay a big hunk every month ($300 or so - just guessing) All I know is that Mr. Cooke gave me a very larg raise and never pulled any inquiries, hard or soft. In my opinion they are a very fair creditor - they give you the benefit of the doubt and really help you get started. -Sal
Kbanger, Mine was an offer in the mail - I just accepted it. I think what you might want to do is just apply online for they're plat card (thats all they have online right now). They might turn you down, but it's possible they might offer you one with a lower limit or a regular card (don't hold me to this, I'm just guessing It only will cost you an inquiry to find out and if they do offer you something, take it no matter what it is. -Sal
I had my first Cap1 card increased after 3 months but it could be different now. That was 2 years ago. I did get a limit increase (actually 2 on 2 different cards) in the last 3 weeks. Good luck.
Sal & Hermit, you guys see my scores. What are my chances at a Cap1 card. Major derogs are Student loans all in default. After tonite if Eq updates I should be in better shape
\ Well I think if you were in the 550 range it would be better but its just a guess. Also, its hard to say what they are doing now with new sub prime accounts. I got mine in 6/2002 and it came unsecured after 2 years of credit hell. I also had lots of credit before and had 13 positive trade lines in addition to my 10 negitives. You may benifit by contacting Mr. Cooke or someone who deals with appications and just ask them. Tell them your scores and such. Ask what they need for an approval. I wouldnt give my name or SS number just yet. Feel them out. Good luck and let us know what you hear.
