I got a call from a Cap one rep sometime in June/July for a preapproved Gold or Platinum MC. I declined and told him send it in the mail. I got what looks like a preapproved letter that just asked for SS#, DOD and home phone. I dediced to call the 800# which in turn asked for the exact same info and the offer id code. After I did that it said thanks you and expect correspondence within the next 4 -6 weeks. Any one has similar experiences? Is that indication of a denial?
Texastrini, I don't think so. I think when you call by phone you may be approved but they can't tell you what you are approved for at that point. I've recently applied for new credit and everyone has made me play the waiting game. I only applied online for one card, did not get "instant" approval, just a message that it could take 30 days. I called in a few days and found I was approved for $15,000 limit. The others were done by phone. Again, the reps said it could take anywhere from 2 to 4 wks but I called after about 2 or 3 business days and got my approvals, again, with generous credit limits.
Thanks Mist, This one was no rep involved just a automed fill in the blanks and press #. Wow, such generous limits....congrats.
I received an offer this week for a Capital One card. My husband recently received a solicitation for a Cap One gold MC with the "Celebration of Irish Heritage" thing. On this card you have three choices to pick from for the look of your card. His card looks awesome! I decided to call and see what other choice they offer and to apply. Unfortunately, those type of fancy looking cards are by invitation only (I know if you go to their site they offer you about four or five different choices, but they weren't as cool as my husband's). I can be added as an AU, but for now would like to get an account in my name. The rep. asked if I wanted to apply for the Gold Visa like I was offered and I was told they review the application to see if you qualify for any of their other cards. He didn't ask me for any codes or such off the offer I received. At the end of the call I was told I would receive something in the mail in a couple of weeks. I just wonder if anyone has received an offer and then when they replied were approved for a different offer (mine was Visa Gold with a $49 dep. and $39 annual fee). For example a worse offer like a $99 dep. or $199 dep. with the $200 limit. Was anyone just flat out denied after review? My offer did not state "pre-approval" rather it said I have "earned the chance."
