I had a capital one account in 1999 which was settled for a less than total amount. I was dumb and didnt know any better at the time. Anyhow, I realy want to get this item removed but I am just not having any luck with it. But I have some issues.

I PFB a few months ago, because they originally had my in different time travel periods apparently, opening the account in 2000 but close in 1999. Very odd. Anyhow, they straightened out the dates so now the date of last activity shows 8/99.

However, it does not reflect that it has been paid. in fact the current status as of 2/2002 shows that I am 120+ days past due.

I also got Mr Cooke to send me copies of all my statements so I could verify my information and he did. But he did not send me any record of when I paid it off under settlement to the collection agency.

Any ideas on what I can do with this? I have sent verification letters twice to Equifax. Numerous letters to Capital One about it. Any others?

If you're willing to pay off the remaining balance (total balance - what you settled for), they will usually delete the tradeline entirely.. Mr. Miller did this for me, and even opened a new account for me as well..

Nope, I offered that to Mr Cooke and even plainly asked is there anything in the world I could do do get this updated and he said no. Everyone I talk to always seem to have good things to say about him with him helping them, but I tell ya, I havent had any such luck with him at all. Even offering to pay the account completely and I can't get that far.

What I dont get is if entries are incorrect on the report and I dispute with the CRAs then what do I do? Am I forced into filing a lawsuit then since i have no other alternatives?
