    George,

I do not have a number for the automated approval line. However, here is the number for customer service: 1-800-955-7070.

They should be able to provide further assistance.

My mom got the gold guaranteed approval letter today, we went to www.getmycard.com. Is it REALLY guaranteed? Because she got the 7-10 day processing message.

Christi, it's not guaranteed. In fact, these "pre-approved offers" don't mean that you're guaranteed the card anymore. (Remember the good old days when pre-approved actually meant pre-approved?) Nowadays (and with Capital One specifically, among others), pre-approved means simply that you were pre-approved to receive the offer in the first place. The fine print on the back of a Capital One offer will almost always sneak in some language that says you still have to meet some income and credit requirements. Some pre-approval, huh? The only thing you are guaranteed is that you will be "considered for a credit line up to $5000!" Well, gee whiz, I'll consider you for a credit line drawn on my personal bank account for $10,000 right now! Ok, I considered it, and you're denied, lol.

Seriously, I really wish that somebody would introduce some legislation that would impose limits on the language used to market credit offers.

OH well. She has 3 accts with them in great standing and this one only asked for her signature or go the website and enter the reservation number & access number. It does state "guaranteed" all over it, even in the fine print. I guess that's one more big lie.

    Christi,

Why not have Mom PFB them for higher line increases? Then, a few months later, consolidate the two newest lines into the oldest.

Adding a new revolving line may cause Mom's scores to drop (at least for the first 6 months).

Christi, who knows... maybe Capital One is actually guaranteeing approvals now for some people. If they don't ask for her Social Security Number anywhere, and there's no mention of "credit and income requirements" then perhaps it's a real one. If there's an 800 number on the marketing piece, call and ask! I'd like to know what they're up to as well, so keep us posted here.

    LIES! ALL LIES!
Seriously though, I received a GUARANTEED APPROVAL for a Cap One Platinum today. There are some stipulations, but credit score only determines credit limit, not approval status according to the terms and conditions. I don't like the $39.00 annual fee, but I do like the no BT fees, so I may apply. I will update if I do apply.

    Re: Well GEORGE...

Well, I got the 7-10 days message. They pulled Experian. I have a CE 665 score as of today. Since I do meet the "Guaranteed Approval" criteria listed in the terms and conditions, I expect to be approved. I will probably get the $500 CL....
