Just received a Capital One Direct Express offer. It states "Confirmed Status". " You are Confirmed for this new Platnum MasterCard offer with a credit line up to $2,500 and a 0% APR on all purchases until November 2002". My question is what are the chances of getting approved on this? I don't want an inquiry. Can you get approved with this if you claimed a Capital One Card in a Ch 7 BK in 1998? Since BK my credit is spotless as follows, no lates on anything since BK: Score: 658 First Premier 3 years $1800 limit FCNB 2 years $1600 limit Merrick Bank 2 years $1000 limit (2nd card) 8 Months $600 limit Sterling Bank 3 years $600 limit Kays Jewelers 1 Year $1000 limit Goodyear 5 months $500 limit Circuit City 9 Months $1000 limit Ford Credit 2 months on purchase $23K Ford Credit 2 year lease paid off in 03/02 Ford Credit 2 year lease paid off in 02/00 Home Depot 2 years $3,800 limit Credit Union 14 months $1000 paid off next month Personal Loan Should I apply? or is it a waste since they were discharged in 1998 BK? I wouldn't waste the inq ... how much shows up on your CR as discharged? 658 isn't a horrible score - but I would think Cap 1 would maintain a blacklist (can anyone confirm that?) that lasts at least 7 years. Good luck - it sounds (and looks) like you're doing a great job rebuilding. -mj
You might also want to email them via Planetfeedback to explain your situation and inquire if you are "blacklisted". Mr. Cooke is generally helpful and very responsive to questions.

My sense is they may approve it. They work with sub prime and since you can't file again, maybe they would approve it. Just a hunch.
I received the exact same offer, same circumstances. I filled out the online acceptance (gemycard.com) and got the "we'll let you know" response. I figure it's a denial but I'll let you know when I find out for sure.

Re: Capital One Direct Express Offe Just discovered I got approved. It looks like Capital One will forgive if they see that you are serious about rebuilding your credit. I am glad to see that they have given me a second chance. They told me my approval letter is on the way and the card will arrive by 7/8. They wouldn't tell me over the phone what my limitr is. Just shows you can rebuild after BK.
Re: Capital One Direct Express Offe Sounds like an identical response as mine. I got my limit when I called to activate the card. $2250.00. It wasn't as high as they said it could go but at least it wasn't the 300.00 limits some people have reported receiving. It was kind of cool, if you go to their website there is a spot where you can do balance transfers right from there rather than calling in. That is what I did. By the way, they had told me I would receive the card by a date that was about 2 1/2 weeks away, I actually received it about 3 days later. Keep us updated with the Credit Limit, I'm curious.
Re: Capital One Direct Express Offe My best friend filed BK 5yrs ago, had a cap 1 included in her BK, was approved for the Cap 1 Platinum w/ 5k limit 1 year ago. So yes, they do approve you even if you included them in BK. jamee
