Thanks Saar for Capital One Retention Dept phone number. I have been tried to lower my Capital One MC for almpst two years. I kept calling their normal customer service and they told me "NO". Today, I searched this board message base and found the number. I called that number and I told her about the rate is too high. I forgot my account number and she asked me my SSN. She told me to hold on the line for a mintue and she came back with the good news. She lowered my account rate from 15.90% fixed to 11.90% fixed and cash advance rate 19.90% fixed. She told me the cash advance is high and I don't care about that because I don't take cash advance. The rate will take effect on next statement. She is so nice. She told me here name is Terry Rose. Big Win for me from Cap 1. Ron.
Congratulations,Ron......I called 2 mths ago & received 9.9 fixed on purchases/cash advances on my Capital One Visa(it was 15.9). I was really impressed the way the Customer Relations group handled my request. Sister Girl
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! SisterGirl, I have been tried to ask them for months even earlier today and they told me they lowered my rate six months. It was a lie and they didn't lower my rate six months ago. The rate was 15.90% and they haven't changed the rate since 2000. I was impressed with their retention dept and I knew Cap1 didn't like to raise credit limit or lower APR. Ron.
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! Congrats Ron!! Glad you could negotiate a much better APR. Call again in 90 days to see if they'd cut another 2%. Saar
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! Saar, I will call them again. Thanks for the phone number. I think you should talk to Terry Rose in case you want to lower your rate and increase your credit limit. She is very nice and courteous. Ron.
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! Glad to hear that. As for me. my rate went up. Nothing out of the norm that would trigger a rate hike. The hike was not huge but after a steady decline every other billing cycle I thought I merited Cap 1 respect. Best regards, Mirage
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! Mirage, I think you should call them to findout why your rate went up. They raised you rate for a couple of reasons: you're in default or didn't keep good standings with other creditors or you're late on your Capital One payments. I knew they pulled soft inquiry every six months on my Equifax credit report. Ron.
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! Ron, nope current on all my cc accounts. Perfect history and usage. (Do I sound like George or what ) Been lowering my balances with all my accounts as well. I will give them a call as soon as my current cycle ends. If I do not see a reverse trend I will give them a shout. Best regards, Mirage
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! Mirage - they upped my interest rate a bit too - but it's an adjustible rate - I didn't know that. It was at 9.94% and now it's at 10.04%. Not a big hike, but I still wasn't happy. Ozzy.
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! Ozzy, yup that's what happen to me. I was not aware that the prime rate had gone up recently. I will probably give them a call to convert the APR to a fix rate. But my Cap 1 days are coming to an end. Best regards, Mirage
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! I think Capital One uses LIBOR rather than prime rate. That may be why you got the increase. Prime has not gone up.
Re: Capital One Lower my APR!!!!!!! daveberk, My Capital One Mastercard used to have a variable rate. Two years ago, I request to lower my rate and they changed my rate from variable to fixed. Both my Capital One Mastercard and Kmart MC have 11.90%fixed rate. Capital One like to use LIBOR for setting the rate for their subprime cards. Ron
