Your answer is in your own post. It's not a CLI. It's just another attempt by Cap 1 to get you to pay yet ANOTHER annual fee.
The offer I received was for an annual fee of $29.00 per year. Which is less than the $59.00 for my "green marble" card that I have a cl of $3400.00. I have been pre-approved up to a cl line of $3103.00. Only Capital One could come up with an unusual cl of $3103.00. Why not just make it $3100.00 or better yet why don't they make it for an even $5000.00.
Re: Re: Capital One Offer Doesn't matter. They'll probably only approve it for $300 anyway...regardless of what other accts you have with them.
Re: Re: Capital One Offer Yup, that's EXACTLY what they did to me. $300 CL with $29 annual fee. Promised UP TO $3103.00. Three hards for it too. Ugh. DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Re: Capital One Offer I got the same offer in May and then July. Wrote a letter to Cap1 on PFB and got an increase from $300 to $1200 and my fees waived. Here's the gist of the letter I wrote on PFB - there are two parts, the heading makes them obvious: --------------------------------------- Here's what happened: I have kept a low balance and paid on time. I have been told that my credit limit can not be raised until Sept 10, my one year anniversary. I have heard others getting increases at 6 and 9 months. I think it's absurd that you send me an offer for ANOTHER platinum card BEFORE my one year has elapsed and you WILL NOT modify the terms of my current account. I'm not interested in paying another $29 fee yearly, so it's clear how/when/why your "rules" are designed. Here's what I want you to do: Raise my credit limit, eliminate my yearly fee and stop sending me offers for other cards - I just want to concentrate on ONE account here. --------------------------- BTW, I think they did take me off their list - haven't seen any offers since! .
Re: Re: Capital One Offer Here's what I just got from them via email. LOL, I'm at 9.9 fixed now with them and I would want this card WHY? Gotta love those randomly generated credit lines! *************************************** Need an extra line of credit with no interest on purchases until May 2004? Your previous account performance has earned you Preferred Plus cardholder status. . .which means you're pre-approved for a Capital One® Visa® Preferred Plus Platinum card with a credit line up to $7,512* and a 0% intro APR on purchases, going to a competitive variable APR, currently 12.9%.
Re: Re: Capital One Offer I wrote about this new Cap 1 tactic a couple of months ago with the crazy up tp CL amount and now with new posts it seems nothing has changed. The $300.00 cl and the annual fee. Cap 1 keeps telling the geneal public that they are out of the sub-prime business? Looks like they just 'discovered' that their current sub-prime customers is a gold mine. Gotta hand it to Cap 1, they are smart operators. Still if you are considered sub-prime, Cap 1 is still one of the best if not the best cc to deal with. I remember the horror stories with Cross Country and others. Best regards, Mirage
Re: Re: Re: Capital One Offer I agree Cap1 is a very savvy, heck I am one of the gold mine customers and they have been good to me. My No Hassle 8.9% rate is better than many of my other cards but when I want an increase I have to use PFB to get good service after I get my increase I have to do a BT up to the limit to reflect the new increase then wait 3 months again go hat in hand to executive offices to inq for a lower rate or teaser offer and the cycle completes. For rebuilding they are fabulous but you outgrow them in later years. If they want to be Prime they need to reflect this in being responsive to their Prime customers in service and benefits. When I check into my Hotel do I whip out my Cap1 card or My Amex Gold that gets me service and a discount this is Prime
Re: Re: Re: Capital One Offer Did anybody else apply for this offer? If so, what were your results? I am still telling myself it's not worth it. I am trying to fight the temptation. Please help!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Capital One Offer I myself have never recevied this offer via email, as a matter of fact I have never received any offers from Cap 1 since me Cap 1 (green marbled) account was opened in 1996. So with that out of way, if I were to get this I would not do it. Of course others may do it to have a another Cap 1 account for the purpose of combining at a later time. Best regards, Mirage
I got the same offer, went for it, got a 2nd card with a $4000 line, then PFD'd cap1 asking why they would give me a 2nd card with a $4000 line but refused to increase the line on my 1st card. Cap1 got back to me and agreed to increase the first line from $2250 to $3450 THEN merge the two cards with the combined line ($7450). Not too shabby for a card I got a year ago with a $500 line.
got an offer through mail for 0% until july o4 on everything then 7.99fixed on everything with no fees cl up to 20,000 threw it in round file , hope this helps..
Re: Re: Capital One Offer ?? I've had 5 Cap1 cards, only one had an annual fee... and after 1 year, when it came up again I said I wanted a better deal - they said "We'll go to no annual fee on this account, or lower your interest rate 3%" (12.9 to 9.9) Since I didn't carry a balance, I took the no annual fee. Haven't had an annual fee on any Cap1 since. (And now I've combined 4 cards into 1 for the Platinum, no-hassle with 9.9% anyway!)
Re: Re: Capital One Offer More Cap.1 weirdness.....A couple months ago, combined 2 cards into 1 for a $9700 limit (only 2.7K shows as high balance though). Anyways, noticed the limit went up to $9900 today even though I never asked for an increase. Only $200? Strange.
