Last week I received a prepapproved offer for a Capital One Platinum Visa based on my excellent payment history with my Cap One Gold Card. Today I get a letter in the mail stating that since I have another Capital One Card (I have two low limit Cap One Cards besides the Gold Card), I am not eligible for the Platinum Card. Has anyone had any success (through Planet Feedback??) with Cap One reevaluating their decision? Thanks.
Use planetfeedback. 3 is the max cards you can have... but they really should've checked before sending you an invitation. so, keep the gold card and if you want, have the Exec office combine the 2 little cards into one (choose the oldest one to keep)... get them to give you better terms on your existing accounts while you're at it. then, get your Platinum approved. Later, if you want to, you can recombine the other little card into your Gold card... The goal could be 2 Platinum cards and a gold card working its way to Plat. when all is said and done, 3 Plat cards can be in your future. That's my goal :_)))
Thanks for the advice. Mr. Cook just called me (executive offices of Cap One) and told me he would give me the same interest rate as the platinum card on two of my existing accounts and increase my existing credit lines to equal the platinum card line. He could not combine the cards due to the fact they are "different types" of accounts. I was happy and there were no hard inquiries on my credit reports.
