My husband has an account with Capital One that I convinced him to open then proceded to not pay on for a few months after we moved which I know was stupid.

    Anyway,

We received a letter from a local attorney offering to settle at around 50% which I have not responded to yet. The attorney is representing Cap 1, they have not bought the account and when I pulled Dh's credit reports yesterday the attorney is not listed yet and Cap 1 has not charged it off yet. It's listed as 120+ days though.

We are wanting to buy a house sometime in July/August. I am wondering if I should have DH call Cap 1 and see what they can do for us. I was hoping for maybe bringing the account current and maybe reaging the account to reflect a positive current standing, I read somewhere on here that someone had gotten another card to reage after 3 months of current payments. It's a small amount $700 or so.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
