I had an account with a company called Associates. They apparently went out of business. I disputed with the credit bureaus and it was deleted from all three. Recently Capital One purchased the account and has changed the charge off status date from 7/1998 to 12/2003. It only appears this way on EX. I disputed the status date with EX as being illegally re-aged. Capital One has verified. I do have a copy of an EX report from 2/2003 with the original account on it and the original status date. The older EX report even states that the account was to continue on record until 3/2005. Do I now re-dispute with EX submitting a copy of the older report or should I submit an ITS directly to Capital One. This is way pass the SOL for my state, but Capital One is making it appear as this is something that just happened. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck! Capital One is notorious for re-aging, and they hard to deal with. I had the same problem with them verifying and re-aging monthly. What I would do last, after everything else fails, is to send an ITS w/lawsuit attached. First, go through the dispute process amicably and keep records. Send all mail CRRR.
