I currently have two Capital One Cards. One is in the process of being upgraded to the gold card, and the other is the classic.

The Gold, 12.9% Fixed and $1,000 line, Opened 9/00'

The Classic, 12.9% Fixed and $950, Opened 08/00'

I just had the interest rates lowered and credit limits upped in September. Yesterday, I was told I would get a review for a line increase on each account around December. What are some methods I can use to get that 9.9% rate and higher limits? I was also told they don't upgrade from the Gold to the Platinum card; that you must apply for it outright. Any advice appreciated! Thanks!

I'm too sleepy to answer your excellent questions tonight, Matty. But I thought I'd pop in with this smartass comment instead... WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS WHICH OF THE CAPITAL ONE CARDS SHOULD MATTY CANCEL? (I had to do it. Just punch my lights out. LOL.)

    Doc

    P.S. Sorry.

Ummm, Matty, shouldn't you be in bed? Isn't tomorrow a school day?

    Sorry, I couldn't resist - I'm a Mom...

OK, I have to confess...my 16 year old daughter is just now getting ready for bed. Why? Because she has been sitting here talking to her Mom...

I don't have a bedtime, I know it may shock many of you. My parents go to bed, and whenever I want to go to bed, I go. I don't have a curfew either. I guess it's a few perks of being an only child, and I like them!

Matty, Actually, my kids don't have a bedtime either! I am embarassed to admit it though!

How long did you wait until getting a second Cap One card? Sorry if you have already posted this info...

Nah, I wouldn't recommend combining, LOL. I was ribbing you for all the other "which ones should I cancel" posts. :) I'll stand down now and let others whose wisdom exceeds mine answer your terrific questions about those credit cards.

Terri, applied for the guarantor card in August of last year, the "high school card" Got that and about 2 weeks later, another card came in the mail from them. I was like what the heck! I called them and they said they had somehow opened a student (college) account for me and that I could keep it if I wanted to, even though it doesnt have a guarantor.
