Capital One, Mr. Cooke To all Mr. Cooke followers and friends, I spoke with him today to combine 2 of my my cards and as always, he came through swimmingly. He is a great contact and great resource for us Cap1 folks. An asset to us and his employer. I told him I would send a shout out to his following here at CreditNet and he had a chuckle. He said he knows about the loyal friends he has made here. So, a big Hi from Mr. Cooke to you all. And if you read this... A big thanks and hello from us to you Mr. Cooke. -Peace, Dave
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke Nave, So what exactly did he do for you? I have 3 accounts and I would LOVE to combine them!
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke By the way...anyone ever try using Mr. Cooke to get CapOne to report your actual LIMIT!!!! I'd like to know if he can do THAT!
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke He's great. He just combined mine and my husband's cards. He made me a lifelong customer of Capital One. I even told my parents who have excellent credit and happen to have Cap One cards.(Prime of course). They said they think he sounds great and that they won't close their cap one cards just because of how nice he was to me. Kim
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke 2 PAWS up for Eugene! I need the other two to stand up to get to the keyboard ..... aarrrrfffff - dogman
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke And oh yeah...exactly how do I get in touch with this Mr. Cooke? Anyone...anyone?
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke SweetnSas, He has done loads for me in the past. This time he combined a Gold and a Platinum card into one account with a lower APR. To get in touch with him it is best to begin with a PFB letter (PlanetFeedback.com) so he can pull your info and have it in front of him when he calls you back. You can also email him but I can't access the SEARCH function right now (for some reason it just hangs there), so I don't have the email address now...I will post it when I can find it. There it goes...email him at: webinfo@capitalone.com Calling him off the bat is not a good idea...he is very busy so I think it is best to email him(through PFB or directly), let him gather your file, and he will call you back. -Peace, Dave
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke Thanks Nave... Question - how old were your accounts? I have a Plat MC, Gold MC and Gold VS. The Gold MC is my oldest account (4800 CL) and I definately don't want to get rid of it, if it's going to hurt my scores. The Plat is my newest with the highest limit (5k). The Gold Visa is my lowest limit but has a half-way decent APR - for me anyhow (15.9).
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke I TRIED... I SAID SOMETHING ABOUT 100% COMPLETE AND 100% ACCURATE...THEY THINK IT IS THE SAME THING~~~"HIGH BALANCE" vs "CREDIT LIMIT"...
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke I had the same problem. If you keep the Platinum, it carries the age of that account...if you keep the gold it carries that age of account...the gold and platinum are about the same in most respects, so combine the plat with the gold and keep the gold. -Peace, Dave
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke I just sent an email and asked to combine the Visa with the Plat (and keep the Plat). The Visa has an older date but the Plat better terms. I didn't think that they were that close to being the same so I didn't try to combine all 3 into one (the Gold). Nave - did you get a combined CL also?
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke Just had a negative with Mr. Cooke, one of our first: Daughter had miscarriage and was 30 days late one time, other than that 3 years of perfect payments. Sent goodwill letter explaining but stating that she had put plan in place to address unfortunate situations so she'd never be late if things get rough for any reason again. She really has, too...done a great job of maintaining and planning. Anyway, it's all she has on her reports but it's sad that they wouldn't help her out on this one. Some may say that she was late so deserves the ding, but I think her 155 on-time payments and steps to correct should be primary. Aww, well!
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke I don´t know what´s the big deal with Mr Cooke. He is just doing what an regular Capital One customer rep should do. This is increase limits, combine cards, decrease interest rates, etc. My old card CapOne is close to the 3 year mark. I have spoken with Mr Cooke and others on the Consumer Advocate department to bring my card to a 2900 limit only!. (Btw. My lowest limit). I also have Citi Div 13.8k, Citi plat select 12.5k , Bofa 12k, Target 10.5k etc´..from 15 months ago(citi´s) and every increase, int rate reduccion and bal transfer were done by regular customer representative. No planet Feedback, No special calls to people like Mr Cooke of Mr. Miller.
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke Also the Cap One increases are very small (from 300 to 1000 if you are lucky!) every 6 months. With the others prime creditors 1.5k 2k and 3k (BofA) sometimes just 3 months from your last increase.
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke low limits, you have to call the executive office to even have a chance at decent customer service, and lousy increases. Now i know they help alot of folks rebuild who are in the sub prime market....but i'm not impressed.
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke I was happy with CapOne until about 3 weeks ago - called CS about a $29 annual fee and she didn't even try to keep me as a customer - so I said to close my account - it's at zero and is supposed to be closed at the end of my billing cycle.. I PFB'd about my $29 annual fee and haven't heard anything - so I guess my account will close. I've had the card for 2 years. So they blew me off over $29. I didn't need the card - it's the only one with an annual fee - but for cryin' out loud, why on earth would I pay $29 for a $1800 cl when I have $5,000 - $32,000 cls with no annual fee? Mr. Cooke did give my hubby a $1,000 cl increase recently via PFB though.. but it doesn't matter - we're closing his account in a few months when it hits the 2 year mark. Nothing wrong with his account - but by refusing to ditch the annual fee on my account, they lost him as a customer too. I don't think it's going to matter in the grand scheme of things at CapitalOne, losing 2 customers, but I'm at least glad we're able to close accounts with a business that no longer suits our needs. But I gotta admit, until this, CapOne was awesome. Ozzy.
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke For those of us who are prime, C1 probably is not the way to go, however, Capital One is a wonderful company for consumers who are sub-prime. Even their "bottom of the line card" (secured card), comes with no application fee, no processing fee, no monthly-account-fee, just a low $29 AMF, and either $49 (usually gets a $200 credit line) or $99 down (usually gets a $500 credit line) (unlike some companies who either match your down with your limit or give you 1.5 times your down for your limit). This money gains interest for you, and you get it back in a year. Those other cards those fees go south. Standard APR for this card in 19.8%, not great, I know, however sure beats Providian's 29.9%, and they sure beat First Premier with their $99 setup fee, $70 something AMF, + a monthly fee, plus a program fee (WTH do they come up with these things?) Guess it all depends on where you fit in on the credit scale.
Re: Capital One, Mr. Cooke I don't know, I'm beginning to see that different people are treated very differently and I can't say that I see any real rhyme or reason to it. Of course, if one has a multitude of uh-oh's, then maybe I can see but that's not what I'm reading or what I have knowledge of with my family and friends. I'm lucky enough to be treated very well, while hubby and my daughter are treated not so well. It's strange because hubby and daughter (except for her one unfortunate circumstance) have maintained perfect records, same as I have. I read that people are given a second chance when they write that they received the card too young, even lost their original card, but have since learned and gotten a new card they are taking care of. (I'm very happy for them, don't get me wrong!) But, when a person suffers a life-loss and makes adjustments and in 3 years makes one 30-day late, they are rejected? What's that about? Anyway, off my soapbox. You know, a mother's protectiveness..lol. :::::::filing down my claws::::: LOL
