RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH you need to close the $500 one with a 0 balance. they will transfer you to a "specialist" who will try and talk you out of it. Tell him/her what you want to do - that it doesn't look good to have too many lines of open credit and that you want to combine them. They will. I just did it a couple days ago.
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH Whenever, I had changes made to my report it took 2 weeks max for the promised deletion from the creditor and the actually change on my credit report, even though they said upto 6 weeks. roni
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH And with the holidays coming up this week, Roni, the promised change to my account could take even longer to show on my reports. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and wait.
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH To those of you following this thread, Upon Saar and Me too's advice, I called CapitalOne with the intent to either cancel or get a better interest rate. If you remember, the limit on my gold card was $500. Okay, so I called and waited to get through all of the automated account information so I could select the option to speak with a rep. But the info I heard absolutely stunned me! My credit limit has gone up to $3,000! That's quite a jump! Especially for normally-stengy CapitalOne! Honestly, I couldn't believe it but the rep said it was indeed true. I've only had this card for three months. hehehe But the color is beginning to look like real gold. I mean, an alleged gold card with a $500 credit limit is an absolute joke! But now I'm definitely feeling better about the card. Still, I'm baffled as to why CapitalOne hasn't increased the limit more substantially on my oldest account. It's a classic card and I've had it since 96. Donna
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH Dont question it. The last rep probably did it for you. Yes, you have true gold status now. Congratulations. There must be a credit fairy over the boards this month. roni.
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH Well, this makes two gold cards for me, so I'm pretty happy. I was just stunned because the increase was so large, especially for CapitalOne, and it came totally unexpected. You know how Cap One is, Roni. They almost never grant credit limit increases until you've been with them at least six months and sometimes even a year. I guess this is a sign that my credit is definitely starting to improve. Donna
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH LOL! Fairy, angel, credit god...I'm not discounting any possibilities. CapitalOne gave me an early Christmas present, I guess, but I really won't be using their card much. Instead, when credit is needed, I'll pull out my CitiBank gold. It has more status, not to mention a lower interest rate. Maybe this sounds strange but I do feel some allegiance to Cap One. They extended credit to me when few others would. Of course, the fact that they just granted a heck of a nice increase also rates them higher in my book. Donna
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH Yeah, Yeah. I am kinda less mad at them since they helped you. But I agree citigold is better in my eyes. And when I get my platinum. WATCH OUT! lol roni
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH Could you send the "credit fairy" my way? I need all the help I can get.
RE: CAPITALONE -- AAARRRGGGHHH LKH, Yes, I'll sure do my best to get in touch with that credit fairy for you. I hope she'll be sprinkling some of her credit dust over you soon.
