    So stop playing them!

Look at the paperwork you recieved - even if you have a signed purchase order do you also have a signed Truth in Lending Act aggrement that specifically states an interest/finance rate, length/term of finance contract, monthly payments, and total of interest and payments? If the answer is no, then you have not bought the vehicle but are simply borrowing it in order for you to develop an emotional attactchment. Remember, the real selling starts when you step into the F&I managers office. He is paid very well for how he finances your car - the higher the interest rate, the better he gets paid.

Others have already given good advice concerning going to the county tax assesor/collector in order to put a block on your "lost" car title. After that, go to the dealership and get your trade-in back and let them hold on to the Expedition until such time as that magical 7-9% financing is nailed down. Also, you should really see if there is a credit union you are eligible to join since other than 0% financing on new cars, a credit union is going to be the best source of no-games, no-nonsense financing!

I fell for the "take it off the lot" once, but what they did was give me a certificate of insurance which stated that the car was covered because it was theirs. So the next day, when they tried to tell me the car was mine, I told them that, if that was true, then they had fraudulently coerced me into taking an uninsured vehicle off their premises, since their insurance only applied if the car was theirs, and I would be calling the Attorney General. They dropped the payments by $100 a month. It was Ford, btw.

I also learned that the 3-day return doesn't apply to cars in Maryland.
