I am not sue which way to advise an associate of mine. She was laid off (From AMEX to say the least) on 21SEP. She is not able to pay her note. She has tried to get them to work with her. She has been on time up until now (now 2 months late). Unemployment is playing games and she expects to get a lump sum of 3 weeks (about $700). Rent is due (I am helping her find some assistance). The Americredit people are threatening repo. Will not let her speak to any type of forebearance/deferred payment department or supervisor. What can we do? I suggested that she get the rent together. Negotiate a payment via QuickCollect $200 this week and $200 next week. Poor thing just got out of the hospital (when the job's insurance ended) with pneumonia. I had to make her call Bank of Monster (marin) to get them to take $10 since she couldn't pay OL and Late fee totaling $184.00. Any takers on this. What can we do? THE SCIENCE PROJECT OF THE DAY
I had luck with Americredit through planetfeedback. They had a 30 day late on my reports for something that really was their fault. I tried writing, I tried calling, I tried disputing with the CRAs and then sent something in on planetfeedback. I got a call from them the very next morning. They updated my credit report right away. The person who called me was also very concerned that I update the status of my planetfeedback complaint to "very satisfied" (which I did). Now -- one 30 day late from a year ago is not the same as them threatening repo, but anything's worth a shot at this point.
Well, PFB, here we come. This girl is ridiculous. I feel like I am wasting my time even helping her. Home forclosed in 98/BK dismissed because they couldn't pay. They did not even have enuff money to rent a U-Haul to get in the house in the first place. Thing that pisses me off the most, is that she is still hiding this stuff from her husband. This is what got them in their mess in the first place.
Americredit threatened us with repo for months, would not work with us in any way, shape, or form, called every day, were downright rude and obnoxious. Finally we told them to quit calling and come get the car, it would be on the street with the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition. That car sat there for 5 months! Meanwhile, they decided they wanted to be our friend, but it was too late. Eventually, they did come get it, but they sure didn't want to. I was so glad when I came home and it was finally gone. Then they sold it for much, much, less than it was worth, sent us one notice that we still owed them all this money, and never heard from them again. Disputed the repo on the reports and they came off first round. Bye, bye Americredit!!!
They can't sell it for much, much less than it was worth... They have to try to sell it for "FAIR MARKET VALUE"...
That's what I thought, but they said if they chose, they have the right to repo after 1 missed payment. I called a lawyer and he told me they were right.
Say you owe $3k and they repo it. Don't they just take it to the auction and sell it? Say they get $1k, then they send you to collections for the remaining $2k, right? This is what happend to a friend of mine. The best part was he owed $3k and they repo'd it and auctioned it off and sold it for $4k. They sent him a check for $1k minus repo fees.
I don't think it was them. I was just under the impression this is what happens with all repo's. So what exacty does happen when a car gets repo'd???
SEE I KNEW THAT THIS GIRL DID NOT TELL ME EVERYTHING!!! Thank you for your e-mail to planetfeedback.com and bringing the situation with your account to my attention. I appreciate your initiative in resolving this matter. However, I am unable to offer you a deferment at this time. It is necessary to establish a solid pay history before any payments can be deferred on a loan. AmeriCredit requires that at least six payments be made on an account before it is eligible for a deferment and there have only been three payments on your account since it opened in April, 2001. Ms. (dumb lady), I urge you to stay in constant contact with our representatives regarding your situation. That will be the best thing for you to do until you can bring your account current, or at least get three more payments made on the account, so we can look at the possibility of a deferment. We have so many customers affected in many ways by the tragic events of September 11 tragic events. One of the most important things we do at AmeriCredit is care about our customers. I refuse to help anyone else who lies to me. This is ridiculous. I just called her and she was too sleepy (or better yet embarrassed) to talk to me. Wasting my FREAKIN' precious time! I have a 5 month old and a two year old and a 32 year old baby (you all would call this a spouse). Do I have time for this nonsense? In unison.....NO. THE END
And the Amy Cox called her today too at 4pm, but Dumb lady - scared of creditors did not answer her fone! I just sent the letter for her at around 1p EST.
Amy Cox was the person who responded to my issue as well. She seemed nice enough. I'm sure if she could have helped your friend she would have.
Should I be rightfully angry with this person? I mean, I feel insulted that she would have me jump thru these hoops and hurdles for her car note and she didn't even have the nerve to be truthful and tell me what I was up against. Any way, the email seemed really nice and genuine. Too bad Scardy Cat can't pay!
I wouldn't hold it against anyone. I never would have had the guts to ask anyone for help in the first place, and if I had I imagine I would have tried to put myself in the best light possible. The relative anonymity we have here makes for more frank discussions.
Why be angry, its her problem not yours, you helped, you did a good deed, she has an answer, to which she probably knew before.
Sorry Kittw1! That is so BUNK! How can you ask for someone's help and then LIE about your situation????? You'd think that when you finally BREAK DOWN and ask for help is when you STOP LYING and STOP KIDDING yourself! Wow.... Just let it go. It's out of your hands now. I have been in silimar situations as you involving friends. The one thing I can STAND is when someone lies like that. I am here to help YOU! You don't have to lie.....being honest enables me to help you in the best way that I can. Whatever....
