Car repo question...

Back in 2001, I had a minivan repo'd by Ford Motor Credit for being three months behind payment(divorce and lack of finance skills).
I had two small kids and I freaked out. Ford kept telling me that once a car is repo'd in VA it cannot be given back.
Anyway, to cut the story short, I wrote a pleading/begging/wailing letter to FMC and they actually agreed to help me out.
They gave me five days to find $1500, which I did.
The car is over a year paid off.

However, the repo is still on my credit report from back in 2001 which is hurting my score.

If my car wasn't repo'd in the traditional sense can the CRA/FMC claim it was?

    Thanks!

Fact is your car was repo'd. Just because they let you have it back doesn't take away the fact that it was repo'd in the first place. You should have written that begging/pleading letter before they repo'd it. Lots of paperwork and man hours go into repo'ing a car. They're not just going to let it slide.
