Somebody on another board said their "CHANGE IN TERMS" included a fee of $35.00 if you were LATE/OVER-LIMIT WITH ANY CARD!!! YES THAT IS ANY...A-N-Y CARD COMPANY!!! I think it was CITIBANK...so if you were late with MBNA...CITIBANK will add a $35.00 fee to your account...EVEN IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE WITH CITIBANK!!!
I wonder if they will charge you $35 if you were late BEFORE you opened the CC. Just to get you started.
From that list, MBNA and Chase did a rate jack when we were late on other LOANS. Not on credit cards, DH was late on his time share and they jacked the rates. AmEx never did a rate jack on us. We had our cc's almost maxed out and they never jacked us. PawMix
ugh ... so who is left? Most of the major companies are on that list, which I bet is pretty accurate. looks like a person might be better off going to a local bank or credit union for thier card. peace, delilah
Delilah, yep, our credit union never did anything questionable with our loans\credit cards. Business as usual for the last 15 years.... PawMix
I wonder if this also applies to maxing out another card - or even high utilization - say 80% or more? So if I'm late on my Citi - Amex will charge me? Plus I get charged by Citi too! So, I'm late with Citi and I get assessed by AMEX, MBNA, Cap1 etc...? Then if I'm close to limit on any cards and they tack on a fee, I can go over the limit - and that means the OTHER cards will charge a fee for that!!! This is disgusting. No, now that I think about it - banks are just looking out for OUR interests. This is there way of incentivizing (word?) us to not make late payments. It's for us not them. Thank you, Discover. Thank you, Chase. Thank you, US Bank.
I think it was CITIBANK...so if you were late with MBNA...CITIBANK will add a $35.00 fee to your account...EVEN IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE WITH CITIBANK!!! RODNEY DANGERFIELD ================ Wonder if that applies even if you have no balance on their card.? Ya know I wouldn't doubt it! The END ************************* LB 59
Somebody on another board said their "CHANGE IN TERMS" included a fee of $35.00 if you were LATE/OVER-LIMIT WITH ANY CARD!!! GEORGE~~ Wonder if that's retroactive? The END ************************* LB 59
SO YOU HAVE 5 CARDS...all "ALMOST" maxed could end up OVER-LIMIT with all the fees ON ALL 5 CARDS!!! ...even if you have NEVER been OVER-LIMIT or LATE on any card before!!! ALL IT WOULD TAKE TO START THE BALL ROWLING...IS ONE LATE OR ONE OVER-LIMIT OR ONE MAXED OUT CARD!!!
What a mess that would be! I can see trying to dispute accounts. "I was never actually over my limit on this account, but another account made me over." Then everyone raises your rate to 24% or so, then you can't make payments, get more over limit, maybe late because payments are so high, more fees. The banks think they really have it made. Then all of a sudden everyone in the country declares bankruptcy, and the whole economy collapses. Because of ONE over limit fee! Did you ever take an economics course and hear how one person who decided not to buy a refrigerator caused the whole country to go into recession? This could be the modern version.
Somebody on another board said their "CHANGE IN TERMS" included a fee of $35.00 if you were LATE ON ANY CARD. GEORGE ============ So Card A does an AR on you and finds 2 lates on card C 3 lates on card D 1 late on card E Card A then tacks on a fee of $210 to your balance on their account. for the 6 lates. Now Card B finds the same lates on their AR as did Card A and they hit you with another $210. Think this is something: Stick around it gets gooder! The END ************************* LB 59
