I have two of these on my credit reports from all 3 bureaus, I did report them stolen, but is that going to affect my credit score/rating? Any help would be appreciated.

Was your card taken by a thief or lost in the mail?

A lost or stolen notation by it's self should not have a negative impact on your credit score.

One of my credit cards was lost in the mail...so I said to the CRA it MUST BE STATED AS LOST IN THE US MAIL...they said we don't do that!!!

I sent a stronger letter saying SINCE I NEVER HAD POSESSION OF THE CARD FOR ME TO LOSE IT...IT IS TOTALLY WRONG TO STATE LOST OR STOLEN...(a new credit card company I would apply with, would ASSUME I lost the card)...

THEY SAID WE CAN'T USE LOST BY THE US POST OFFICE, BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THAT IN OUR CODE LIST...

After about 6 months of back and forth...THEY FINALLY REMOVED IT!!!

WHY CAN I TYPE "LOST IN THE US MAIL"...BUT YOU CAN'T (CRA)???

IF I REMEMBER IT WAS ONLY LISTED ON TRANS UNION...OR I GOT IT REMOVED WITH ONE LETTER FROM THE OTHERS...

This has be a debate on this board for a while. Where I know that back in the day (when credit reports were viewed by a real live human) they did raise a flag on fraud. Believe it or not there are dishonest people out there. They would apply and receive a credit card and go out and max that baby out. A simple phone the following day.. I must have lost my card; I never received it in the mail yada, yada, yada. To many of these accounts on your report was unfavorable. But, that was when credit scores were rank from 1 to 100 with the lower the number the better the credit.

I had my purse stolen when I lived in Memphis back in â??98, the guy wiped my out. Every credit card maxed out, left me .92 cents in my checking account it to took 3 months to get everything back to order. Mean while I have S/L cards list on my reports for every card I owed. TU and EXP removed them no problem, Equifax is a whole other story. They tell me that S/L will remain on file for 7 years while EXP tells me that unless the card had negative history they would be removed after 2 years.

They must have some effect, and I would love to know that is and I would love to know how to get rid of the last 3 L/S on my report.
