I applied for this card 10/23 over the phone, so I could use it for cruises. I called on 10/27 and 10/29 to check the status, both times I was asked by the automated guy to enter SSN then transferred to a CSR who said its processing and to call back in a few days. So today when I called the automated guy asks for SSN and then tells me app is processing and I will recieve notification via mail by 11/12. I cant help but feel like this is the blow-off since they wont put me thru to a CSR anymore. Has anyone gone thru similair circumstances and still recieved the card?

I've had my Cap 1 Carnival Mastercard for a few years now. It took a good 2 weeks for an approval letter (who knows why?!) but I just waited and got it in the mail.

They gave me a 2k limit (not much considering I love to cruise) @9.9%....BUT offered if I booked a cruise before Jan 2003 they would up my limit to 5500.00. Needless to say we went on our cruise in Feb 2003 and have been hooked ever since...next one is March 2004. The regular credit line (general purchases) is only 500 lousy dollars but I only use it for cruises anyways and it is applied to the 5500 side.

    Good luck getting an answer!

yeah, thats the only reason I want it. I had so much fun the last time we went, about a year ago. We went out of Galveston to Calica and Cozumel. Not much to say about Calica, but Cozumel was fun. Anyhow, I would like to go again. If I get this card we may be going sooner than later.

    Thanks for the response.

Well so I talked to them again today. For some reason the automated guy decided to forward me to a CSR. Anyway she told me it was in the "final stages," whatever that is and that I should check back at the end of the week. I just wonder what the hell is taking them so long. My credit report isnt that long, lol? Only like 4 accounts. Oh well, just have to wait and see what happens.

They may be verifying some of your information. Keep us posted on how it goes.

    Good luck.

Keep us posted as to the result. They seem to take much longer on the Carnival card and CL increases are very hard to obtain unless they do a deal like I got. I even sent a letter thru PFB.com and got a response from mr cooke that he couldn't raise my limit at all....that it was periodically reviewed. That's ok cause I only use it for cruising and I pay one off before taking another one!

Called and bugged them again today, same old story about "final stages," but this time the guy told me that it looks like it will probably be approved. He said my credit looks good enough to qualify and they are probably just considering the CL. So we wait and see some more.

That just doesn't make sense. They can either approve it or not...not debate over it for 2 weeks. Let's give him a card, let's don't. Let's give him a card, let's don't.

I have the card and my scores stunk when I got it... low 600s. Anyway, it started out only 500 CL on both purchases and cruises, but now it is 1500 on both. I got the increase only 5 months after opening it through retention rep. So... don't give up on the CL increase.

My general purchase side has always been 500.00...cruise side is 5k so I don't mind one bit. I just wanted an increase on the general purchase side only but i was denied.

I've had my card for 2 yrs now...you'd think they would up it sometime!

So I called today, and the lady sounded all dreery and like you will be recieving a letter from us in a few days. I said, damn I was declined. Then she goes, on no you were approved congratulations. So I was so damn excited I forgot to ask for any details. I guess they got tired of me calling every other day, but damn 3 weeks to decide on a credit application? So anyhow, I got it.

iambroke-- How do they report your card to the CRA's? Is it the same as a regular cap1 account, or what?

Yes, just like a Capital One card....it only reports the high balance as the limit too! I hate that!
