What is your reason? If you give the bank a declaration that the check was lost, stolen or destroyed within 90 days you may be able to get them to stop payment. The bank cannot stop payment for these reasons after 90 days. The bank can be liable to the payee for damages however if they stop payment within 90 days. Unless the check has been lost, stolen or destroyed, you will have a difficult if not impossible time getting the bank to stop payment for most any other reason.
