Quick question? I pulled my TU credit report, and noticed that "Cavalry Investments" pulled an "A/R" on me. I have no idea who these people are and have no business with them to my knowledge. Is this considered a nonpermissible pull. Is it a hard or soft inquiry. I also had "thornton financial" do the same thing to me last year. Who are these people and what right do they have to pull my report????

Cavalry Investments is a collection agency, and a pretty nasty one at that. Do you have any collections with them or anyone else that they might have aquired?

They are probably doing an A/R to locate you or have been alerted that you are interested in your credit rating and want see if you are interested in paying them too. ;)

I only have one thing on my credit report (a car that was discharged in my ch7 bankruptcy) that is still showing a charged-off status--that's the only thing that they might be trying to collect on, but that debt was discharged. I currently have no collection accounts with them and my "car company" Onyx acceptance corp is still showing that they own the account.

Is there anything you defaulted on that is not listed in your CR? If not, I can't imagine why they pulled UNLESS you have an account with them that is being suppressed (not shown to you or anyone else - supposedly). Try calling the CRA reporting and ask how this company could do an A/R when you don't even have an account with them. They will either say "becuae you have an account with them XXXX or that they don't know, its a statement of fact, blah, blah, blah...

There are a few threads here about suppressed TLs - try searching "suppressed"

I've heard that Calvary Investments is a bottom feeder. You mentioned a BK. It could be that they have bought a portfolio of bad debts from someone, and one of your BK accounts was included in that portfolio.

I would read thru the FAQ's and look at the permissable purpose posts.

Have you ever had any collections with First Credit Solutions out of Tulsa ? If so, the account was transferred to them and they are checking your report to see if they need to change any tradelines to reflect the transfer... this recently happened to me.

Go to the FAQ's section and I believe there is a link to a good no permissable purpose thread. If there's not a sample in the thread, let me know, and I will email you one.

IMHO, since this is a collection agency, they could care less if they make you happy the easy way (mine was an OC pull), so I would send it CRRR in case you have to go to Court.

I'm not sure if fax verification receipts would hold up in Court as well as a green card.

I sent a letter to Cavalry investments for the SAME thing! They pulled my husbands 2x for a A/R a few months ago. I called them to see why and they said "no idea why we pulled it. he's not in our file." I faxed a letter asking for $2000 on Feb 21 and then mailed it, they received it March 3rd. I gave them until today, March 10th, to respond; I haven't heard anything as of yet. I called and left Al Brothers a message. I will let you know what happens.

Can I ask-what address did you mail it to and can you give me the fax number as well?

    It would be greatly appreciated

Mr. Alfred J. Brothers, Executive Vice President
    Cavalry Investments, LLC

    Phoenix, Arizona 85040

You might want to send it to one the other executives listed on the web-site. I can't ever remember WHY I chose him. They have some other offices too. I'm a little afraid that Al might not be as willing to settle if he starts getting the same letter from everyone, lol.

What were the dates that your credit report was pulled. My husband's was pulled in Aug 2002. Just wondering if someone in their office screwed up on that day or something.

    Re: Re: Cavalry Investments???

    Denise,

Hubby got a reply from Cavalry in the mail today. OF COURSE, it was unresponsive to our letter. Here is what it said:

"We have received you letter, however we are unable to locate your account in our system. Please contact our offices at 877-222-8257, or send additional information to the address listed above so we may further assist you."

"This is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose. A debt collector is sending this communication."

    Respectfully,
    NO SIGNATURE
    Customer Service
    Cavalry Investments, LLC

We KNOW he is not in their system!!!! That is why we asked for the permissible purpose in them pulling his report.

I called the number last night and spoke to a supervisor. He asked if I was SURE is was Cavalry Investments, LLC. So I am going to call TU to verify that, and then write a stronger letter to Cavalry. Just thought I would give you an update.

    In my case, I got:

    1. A useless response to the first letter.
    2. They totally ignored my 2nd letter
    3. I sent via their Agent of Service, which the only thing he does is forward to the appropriate department. Then I got responses.

My thoughts on sending to an Executive: Sometimes it works great. Sometimes, whomever screens their mail for them may not understand the issue, assumes its a debt problem, and sends it right back down the chain to where he/she thinks it belongs. I spent many years working for Executives, and they never touched at least half of their mail.
