I received a copy of my EQ report on June 25, and called a dispute into CSC-Seguin (as per EQ). When after 30 days, I had no response, I sent a letter "formal documentation" of the disputed items, this was 8/10/02. I have read that many on this board have had problems with CSC-Houston and am wary. If they do not respond by next week, what should my next step be? They did receive the dispute request; they have "consumer disputes--reinvestigation in progress" on 3 of the 8 items originally disputed. But, I am still worried (or perhaps elated--racking up violations?!) as to whether they will provide a response. Thanks in advance. Shan
CSC takes a full 30 days and is slow, when the 30 days starts is very unknown, CSC likes some kind of proof stuff like copies of letters, AG, BBB, Creditors. They are the most hard headed of the CRA.
Thanks for the response. I am sooo impatient, but I guess I have very little choice, at least for now. Your right, their is really no way to show when they received the dispute. Even though they are like 50 miles from me, it should have been quick, but.... Thanks again. Shan
I would call and ask them--"when did this dispute begin in your system? Really? Well, I show CRRR dated 6/25/02 that says you should have started it no later than 6/30/02." See what they say. If 3 are in dispute and 5 are not, ask what happened to the other 5. CSC is NOTORIOUS for this crap. I hate dealing with them. They will tell you AUTOMATICALLY that they never got it. Well, they were on the same page, how do you get around that? They are just prime for a lawsuit. Keep your paper trail on the violations documented very well. I truly believe that a lawsuit is the only way you will ever get a clean report out of CSC.
Look at your inquiry section, see if you have an inquiry that says "CSC consumer reinvestigation", if so then this would be the date they started.
Thanks. I have been keeping records of everything. I put everthing in file folders, and mark on the outside everything that happens; date received, date on correspondence, date and zip code on envelope, Everything!! Thanks to reading this board I have learned alot. I will give them a call today, and see what is going on. I must point out that I did not send CSC CRRR. All I have on them is a PO Box, and figured it would never get signed for. (If anyone has a street address, I will definately send everything else out CRRR) But I did document the phone call, date the follow up letter was mailed, and date I noticed that those few showed up as disputed. I will post my findings. Thanks again Shan
If they disputed 3 of 8, they got the letter. It was all in one document, right? CRRR or no CRRR, they got it. DOn't be so quick to let them off the hook. These guys are programmed to say "we never got it."
I had a similar situation: I faxed CSC a dispute (1 fax disputing 2 accounts). They placed only 1 account in dispute, but not the other. They sent a letter notifying me of the results of one dispute, but not the other. I called, and they told me they never got the other dispute. Well, I knew then I had them right where I wanted them. Any moron knows that if both disputes are located on the same fax, and they received one dispute, they must've received the other. Long story short: I left 4 messages over 4 days for a supervisor. She finally called me back, I explained the situation (the 30 days was long past), and she said she'd pull a copy of my dispute, and if the item was there, she'd delete from my report. Sure enough, in a few days it was gone. One thing you must remember: dealing with anyone other than a supervisor is futile. One rep told me: "Sir, the 30 days doesn't start until we start our investigation." If that were true, they could postpone the investigation indefinitely. I read the statute that says it starts when they RECEIVE the dispute, but it was like reasoning with a sedated chimp. Another rep said, "We don't have to do ANYTHING within 30 days." So, wait the 30 days, then speak with a supervisor. If you have proof they received the dispute, the law is on your side. Scrivener
Scrivener, I am glad that worked out for you. Maybe this could be a true jackpot if none of those 5 accounts ever ends up under dispute!
Actually, the 30 days starts on the day the cra receives the dispute. They then must notify the furnisher of info within 5 days and once the results are in, even if it takes the full 30 days, they have up to 5 days to notify you of the results. In this case, since 30 days was up over 2 months ago, the 5 days has no bearing. I would definitely advise them you have proof they received it on 6/25 and that the results would be due 7/25. You therefore should demand they delete everything you disputed to avoid suing them.
LKH is right!!! I have not had any difficulty with CSC. I always send my investigations CRRR, and they have deleted four out of five of my negative TL's. I only dispute 2-3 items at a time. If you don't get a response by day 30 (give or take 4 or 5 days for mailing time on their end) send a second letter demanding immediate deletion. Include a copy of your first dispute letter and a copy of the green card.
Thanks. I have not had a chance to call yet, work has been crazy. But I definately will. Looks like my credit report will definately look better tomorrow!! I will post the result of my phone call as soon as I get a chance to call. Mitchra--what address are you using to send CRRR. I have done so with the other CB's, but I don't have a street address for these guys. thanks all. shan
