For those of you who have collection accounts showing for this company, I just got off the phone with the Dept of Banking & Finance and they show nothing in their system for this company, meaning maybe not licensed to collect in the state of Fla. This company is located in Columbus, OH. I will be sending out a validation letter to them today and will keep all posted on the outcome.
Drmgrl- Have the banking dept. check under "Credit Bureau Services" it's their "other name". CBC pulls inquiries ALL the time on hubbys eqifax, and we couldn't figure out why, until we requested validation on a debt owned by CB Services of NH (or which ever city/state you live in). When we received correspondence from them, it was a CBC letterhead. I know CBS is registered and bonded in MY state and they don't have to be.
Thanks for the heads up, KHM. I called on Credit Bureau Services, not licensed in FL. They did show one in Cleveland, OH (mine is located in Columbus, OH) but their licensed has expired. Its still a go on the validation letter.

I don't know if it's the same company. I checked through the BBB. I rememb er someone else on here dealing with CBS of (your state). It could be the same, who knows. These CA's are so sneaky!
Thanks, Donna. I called the Dept of Banking and Finance and asked why they could not find these people the first two times I called. She said that if I don't ask for the name exactly as what they do business under and if I don't have an audit number, they wouldn't be able to locate the company. Thanks for the web site though. I have a few others I need to check on.
Your welcome! The site is great - I wonder if all states have something similar. Another thing. I'm dealing with a CA that is in a different state. They showed up when I did the search but at an address is GA (not the one I'm dealing with) so I called and was told that as long as the main office is licensed the branches do not have to be.
