I have an account coming up as CBUSASEARS on two of my three credit reports. EXP & EQX. Now, the thing is the account shows it's open and in good standing with current updates as of 2/04. I don't have this card...I don't want it either. Do I just leave this account alone. I'm afraid if I call the Sears or Citi or whoever owns this now to ask them to close the account they may start looking at my report and do something that affects me negatively. I'm so nervous!
I'd leave it alone, especially if it has a zero balance. If it has a long history, that helps. Otherwise it helps your ratios. If it disappears later, you can't do much. Are you an authorized user on someone's Sears MasterCard?
CITIBANK owns the SEARS credit card portfolio... If it is REALLY NOT YOURS...DISPUTE it with the CRA'S All they can do is KEEP IT OR REMOVE IT...they can't "LOOK" at your credit report to find something WRONG...
The only thing is that CITI (unrelated to SEARS) is listed on my CR some reports have it listed twice once as $0 paid as agreed and then the same account again as "collection as of 10/98" I know they can't do that so I'm going to dispute that with the CRAs but I don't want to have the CRAs contact CITI aka SEARS regarding the SEARS account just in case they pull my report for the purpose of looking at the CITI account and it would then be hard to prove they didn't have PP since I have an "open" account with them (CBUSASEARS) and then they make some sort of negative (albeit false) notation on THAT account! These are the moments when I know I'm just way too paranoid... Let me sit and think about how I'm a conspiracy theorist at heart. I think after further consideration, I will leave the CBUSASEARS account alone until after I apply for and get a mortgage. Right now it's only helping my credit (I think). I will contact the CRA about the CITI duplicate account showing different status and demanding they delete. All in favor of this action say oy!
CBUSASEARS screw up showing paid as agreed on Transunion sent my wifes fico on TU through the roof 770 or something like that!!!!!!!! When now have a $3,500 line with Chase due to this one reversed tradeline! !!!!!!!!! HotDog
This may be a perfect Cushman v. Trans Union Corporation example. The CRA's own report shows that the data furnisher is unreliable. I would photo copy both tradelines, on one piece of paper. I would dispute it based on data furnisher unreliability. Make it clear that you are disputing BOTH of these trade lines listed under the name of this company, and no other trade lines. Luckily since they distinguish CBUSASEARS as the furnisher for the sears account, hopefully they won't touch it. The same account can not be both paid as agreed and collection. It's an impossible combination, by the data furnisher providing it, and the CRA accepting it, they are not complying with the FCRA's requirement to ensure the maximum possible accuracy of the information which they are reporting.
