Found this interesting article @ bankrate.com http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/cc/20030425c1.asp Card companies watching your other accounts By Lucy Lazarony â?¢ Bankrate.com Many credit card companies will penalize customers that show signs of trouble anywhere in their credit reports. The following credit card issuers will raise your interest rate because of your payment record with another issuer: American Express Bank One Capital One Chase Manhattan Bank Citibank Columbus Bank & Trust* (Juniper Bank card) Direct Merchants Bank* (Banco Popular card) Discover Bank InfiBank* (Eufora MasterCard) First National Bank of Omaha* (Emigrant Savings Bank credit cards) First Tennessee Huntington Direct Bank MBNA People's Bank Providian Sovereign Bank Union State Bank US Bank Wells Fargo Bank *Columbus Bank & Trust applies this policy to Juniper Bank credit cards; Direct Merchants Bank applies this policy to Banco Popular MasterCards; InfiBank applies this policy to Eufora MasterCards; First National Bank of Omaha applies this policy to Emigrant Savings Bank credit cards.
The only major bank I don't see on the list is Bank of America. Citibank does reprice; I know that from experience. But they have a lighter touch than many other banks, which I also know from experience.
