All, My children just received offers from Citibank for AAdvantage Silver cards. We are going to apply. The credit applications do not contain any questions about age or birthdate. The information was given to Citi from only one place. My kids do have American Airlines frequent flier accounts... that are documented with their ages. I will keep this updated and we shall see if the children are approved. Note: for income on the application it asks for "total household income"... not the income of the applicant. If they are approved, won't that be quite interesting.
Do your kids have social security numbers? I'll be very surprised if it goes through... Lets say it does... I sure would not use the accounts without reading every word of the cardmember agreement that comes with it... I feel sure that you'll be breaking the law.
They are real people instead of DOGS...(more than one person as got stuff for their dog). MY KID GET UNITED APLICATIONS WITH UNITED MILEAGE PLUS...
Uh-oh, somebody place parental controls on this thread so Matty won't see it. Otherwise, he'll be first in line for all the frequent flyer accounts he can grab. Doc
The kids have SSN's. I will be reading things VERY carefully to make sure we don't break the law. I was thinking that it would be nice when the kids actually are of age if they had 10-year + trade lines. Make their credit scores high.
I've been in Experian and Transunion's files since 1986 and I was born in 1978. My mother put me as an authorized user on her American Express card. Too bad, 10 years later I messed up the high credit score I once had. But I keep the American Express entry on my report even though it's closed by consumer's request. At least it shows I had good credit once. Oh well...
Caution: The SSN are the key. When CC's verify the info on the application, the SSN will comes back "issued in 1995 and 1996" respectively. That may well put up red flags for them. Yes, I know older people get SSN for the first time every day (immigrants for example). But I suspect Citi will request "additional information" on those apps.
