Thank you everyone who wrote ANYTHING about what to do about CCB. I emailed-it was forwarded and today (a week & 1/2 later) I got a packet in the mail with validation the account WAS mine-and why the balance was a lot higher than I thought it should be-but then those WONDERFUL WORDS "...as a courtesy...." This DOES work - and I appreciate everything I've read here and everyone who wrote it!!
