Has anyone had any luck with cross country bank deleting an account on a settlement offer? I have disputed this account with the CRA's as "not mine" came back verified. It will remain on my CR for 3 years. If this is an open account- it has passed the SOL, where I live....but if they go by Florida it is another year. I have mailed two settlement letters- in the last 4 months- the first reply was no- please contract NCO to make settlement offer or to make payments on the account to them? I wrote a very long letter explaining in detail my experience with CCB on PFB- receivedc a letter from a manager thst they will accept a payment of $250.00 on the 432.00 balance that was charged off in 1999, but will not delete any delinquent entries or remove the "charged-off". It would state settled charge-off. I wrote a counter offer for complete deletion for $300.00. I basically want to let this just sit for 3 years and fall off vs. paying any $$ and have it remain as settled charge-off. ANY IDEAS????
Cross Country bank is the worst. You offered them $300 which is 69.45% of the debt. Generally if you offer 80% they should delete the debt off the credit reports. Below is a good debt negotiation letter. By the way, Cross Country Bank is based out of NJ but they have a payment processing facility in Florida.
